Matthew Riddle - Terrible Teammate

On the last episode of TUF Matthew riddle was sitting on a couch talking to Matt Brown who was Jeremy May's opponent on that episode. Matthew Riddle told Matt Brown about Jeremy's leg injury and even told him to kick him in the leg.

Jeremy May and Matthew Riddle are teammates on the show. It doesn't matter that Jeremy was exaggerating the injury (Matthew didn't know that, he thought it was real). It doesn't matter that Jeremy is a complete jackass. It doesn't matter that Matthew Riddle hates Jeremy May. It doesn't matter if he was drunk or hung over. He gave away strategic information to his teammate's opponent before their fight. You NEVER go against your team. That would be like a soldier crossing enemy lines and giving away his general's plan of action to the opposing side. It's f'n wrong. You don't ever betray your team like that. What an asshole!

It's too bad that Rampage won't get to see the tapes until after the show is over. I would love to see him confront that loser or toss him off the team. I don't care about the circumstances, you don't betray your team, it's just wrong.

i agree with you. i don't like jeremy either, but not for anything stupid he said. i don't like him for using some supposed injury to preclude him from having to properly train. his shortcutting was apparent in his match as a result, and i am glad that someone whose heart is not in mma is out of contention. in spite of all of this, riddel had no reason to tip off the other team. this is inexcusable, if i were rampage, i'd ask him off the show. he's already lost, and now he's just tryin to mess stuff up for the team.

That would be good fun.

Somewhat agree, but Rated makes a good point...

As far as I'm concerned they are still teams until we get to the later rounds and they will fight each other. Having your teammate win gives your team an advantage because you can strategically pick the fights. Sure Matthew was already eliminated, but they were there for him when he founght and now that he's eliminated he's basically saying "Screw the team, they can do nothing more for me". I understand what people are saying, but it's still a crappy/selfish thing to do.

I think it is what happens when you take competitors from a 1 on 1 sport and force them into some kind of team scenario. They don't have to work together to get a win (besides trying to get a win to have the power to pick the next fight), and Riddle already lost. It doesn't matter to him really.

I thought it was dirty at the time, but when you realize that everyone on Jackson's team hated May, it isn't a big deal.

To those who say that TUF isn't a team compition are wrong. Yes you have to eventually fight your team members, but you can give away information about someone who you train with all day, someone who helps you hone in on your skills in practice, and someone who will be rooting for you. I know most of you will say "May was a douche and not a good team player either" or something of that sort, so I will counter that in advance. Look at it this way, if Riddle doesn't like May, fine, but he sure as hell should AT LEAST respect Rampage, because he is the team "leader" and coach, and he is really trying to help Riddle, and his team out the best he can. With that said, Rampage was in a slump, losing what I believe was either 3 or 4 fights in a row and still trying to catch a break so he can have controll of the fights.(for once) So Riddle not only disrespected Rampage by sabatoging one of his fighters chance to give him a win, and control of the next fight, but his whole team because if they did win they can make more favorable and winnable matches for themselves. So with that said, I really liked Riddle before, but now think he's a dick.

I don't know if its the way the producers are "cutting" the show or what. But it doesn't seem to me like either team is really bonded as a team, or that there is much of a team setting going on.

Things don't really seem to be divided like that.

I don't agree with Riddle's decision to give out a 'teammates' possible weakness. However, I do believe May would have deserved it, even though his injury was a fake. Plus, Riddle was kinda funny about it, so that was cool. The even cooler part is that I don't remember Brown throwing a single leg-kick. That makes me respect Brown more, even though May deserves to be whooped on with extreme prejudice. He's just a disgusting douche to me. Plus he looked horrible. I don't remember his original performance, but I'm pretty sure he beat Rampage's boy, who totally choked. I remember that guy looking REALLY bad, which doesn't really say much for May, imo.

I would have done the same thing in a heart beat. This is no team sport. May is a total douchebag and I would have done my best to give brown the advantage, even if they meant keeping him from getting a good nights sleep before, salting his water or telling brown as much as I could.

What the hell does that mean anyway? I was tempted to open the link just to see what the hell it was.

Xerberus, you are a crafty bastard! Salting someone's water is a pretty shady thing to do, but genius, I must say. I'm sure it's been around for a while, but it's new to me.

It's a pretty crap thing to do. I read an interview with May where he said they misquoted him as far as the not training with his knee. And he also claims all Riddle does it sit at home and smoke weed which is a damn shame since he is 22 and lives at home.
