Jesse Taylor vs. Dante Rivera

Wow, ten minutes of GnP/LnP. I really want that ten minutes back. At least Forest was entertaining during the match, "okay just lay on top of him" "get in the guard and just hang out". Pretty much sums it up.

Jesse Taylor is boring. Lyoto Machida is not. this fight illustrates perfectly, at least in my eyes, what makes a boring fighter. he won, and watching him win made me want to kill myself. i really hope someone defeats jesse and soon before he wins...god i hated that fight arrg!

EDIT: MUCH BETTER fight between amir and matt. i am very impressed with amir's triangle sub win here. it is so much more exciting to watch more well rounded fighters go at it. my compliments to matt brown as well, although i thought he might have run out of gas a little in the second. i am really worried that if the final match boils down to amir and the muscle blanket, that amir might not be able to shake that dude off of him. i think it is gonna be a personal nightmare for me if jesse ends up taking this thing.

also, forrest was hilarious with that comment to taylor. i bet he was bored ****less with that fight as well.

Jesse is just one dementional. Dante Rivera is the boring fighter. Isnt he supposed to be a black belt? I can personally guarantee any black belt from my gym could have won that fight off their back. Thats just sickening. I think he made three sub attempts that whole fight. IMO Jesse did what he should have done, just pound away. I think he could have tried a little harder to pass the guard. But they werent coaching him to do it, so they must have been worried about him getting swept. Dante should hang it up IMO.

yeah, man, i can't disagree with that. Dante added nothing to this fight. to be honest, i missed the first few minutes of the show tonight, so i am not sure what dante's background is. i also can't recall from previous shows specifically what his style is, but if he is a black belt in a submission style, then that makes it even worse. also, the way dante would just throw a sloppy hook and get immediately taken down. i also agree that jesse did what was needed to win, but god i really did not like watching it. hopefully jesse improves his arsenal with time.

I think Dante has to be the fighter who talks himself up the most but has shown NOTHING to back it up. Other than looking like a busted up fighter he hasn't shown that he is a fighter. I think it was also a case of poor game plan or poor cornerman. Everytime Dante threw a punch Jesse would take him down. It was clockwork and PREDICTABLE. Why no one encouraged him to try and toss a knee to Jesse's head when he shot for the takedown is beyond me. I mean its not like he had any takedown defense to compromise to why not swing for the fences and take some risks. Winners take risks... Loosers talk about the risks they should have taken.

Totally agree. I cant stand him. Especially after he talked all that shit to Riddle. I think if he would have gotten matched up with Chipper, Chipper would have won.
