They may, but I don't think it would hold any real water. A similar thing HAS happened in the NFL. Vince Papale played for the Eagles after not having played college football.
And, it's not like Amir is just some Joe Schmoe off the street. He obviously has tons of experience. Just none of it is pro experience. Sparring in the gym, you can learn to keep your wits about you on your back with allowing full slaps (it won't do lasting damage, but still hurts, and distracts like Hell) when ground fighting, and it looks like he's done a ton of that.
