So should the Real World and etc. but alcohol leads to interesting conflicts which makes the show more entertaining and in turn gains ratings... Keep it..

What are your thoughts?

Alcohol =
Dude, that would be so bad for ratings. pfft, like I care about ratings, but it's true. It's reality tv, and as disgusting as it is to watch these guys piss their opportunities away with alcohol and being douchebags, it does bring in a lot of fans. Also, we get to know what kind of character these guys have. I have a lot of respect for the guys who weren't drinking like crazy and trashing the house. I respect the guys trying to discourage that type of behavior, breaking up fights and trying to save the other fighters from sabotaging their own careers.

It's hard to say what I would do in their situation, because obviously, I'm not in their shoes. Maybe they are truly put up to it. I don't doubt that for a second. If I had producers telling me to break stuff, who knows. I don't like to think I'd stoop to that level. I sure as hell wouldn't be getting wasted. JT is truly a gifted athlete to be able to eat and drink like he does and still be able to compete the next day. ... or even stay in competitive shape, for that matter.

Anyway, as much as I hate to see these guys get all drunk and retarded, I think the alcohol serves a bigger purpose.

While drama for the show is certainly an intended byproduct of the alcohol, it isn't the primary one. The fighters that sign contracts with the UFC can be considered investments. Considering many will be famous & have cash if they win fights, the free flowing liquor in the house gives the UFC a picture of how they are behind the scenes. The best example of this is, of course, Jesse Taylor.

You can't save everyone from themselves. Shit, they should leave lines of coke and acid tab laying around the house to see if the fighters are going to act like complete idiots(like JT did).

In all seriousness though, the UFC is not these guys parent or their police. they are all adults and can/should act accordingly.

Personally I think Mike Dolce summed up your point perfectly in his blog.

Personally, I knew something was seriously wrong with this production when, as a sequestered, professional athlete in the midst of a major sporting event, I could not obtain a free range chicken breast for almost 48 hours of repeated requests, but a bottle of tequila, a half rack of beer and a funnel could be delivered in twenty minutes at any time of day or night with a single belligerent phone call. All under the guise of trying to determine just who was The Ultimate Fighter…the epitome of professional athletics.

Is Spike TV, The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC or our rapidly growing fan-base really interested in finding the next great representative that can cause the most destruction to a rented home while getting drunk, pissing his pants and sacrificing his dignity?

I don’t think so.

Are they looking for a house full of socially inept, moral delinquents that couldn’t channel their mental energy into anything more meaningful than a wall mural of penises and vaginas?

What was once a ground-breaking format that introduced the world to the most exciting combat sport in history, has slowly degraded into a low-brow compilation of alcohol induced, frat boy antics that could serve to destroy the very concept it was intended to create.

Jesse didn't get kicked off for drinking in the house, he got drunk after he was released and stayed an in town a little longer and decided on his own to get hammered and go out when he should have been at home getting prepared for the finale. These guys are adults and they need to act like adults, drink with responsibility and be professional about the oppurtunity they have to compete in the UFC.
