lets see, here is Vinny's BJJ resume, I dunno how you can say he isn't "that good":
3x World Champion (Heavy/Super Heavy/Absolute)

Panamerican Champion (Medium Heavy)

2x Brazilian National Champion (Heavy/Absolute)

2x American National Champion (Heavy/Absolute)

6X Rio de Janeiro State Champion (2000/01/02/03/04/05)

3x Rio de Janeiro State Ranking Champion (2002/03/04)

2005 US Open Champion (Absolute)

2007 Grapplers Quest West Coast Champion (Absolute)

2007 North American Tournament Champion (Heavy)

2001 World Championship - 2nd Place (Absolute)

2005 Panamerican Championship - 2nd Place (Absolute)

2005 Panamerican Championship - 2nd Place (Heavy Weight)

2007 World Championship - 3rd Place (Super Super Heavy)

2003 World Championship - 3rd Place (Absolute)

2000 World Championship - 3rd Place (Middle)

No Gi:

World Champion (Final: Cristiano "Titi" Lazarinni 2007 ADCC Brazil Trials winner)

Panamerican of Grappling Champion (Final: Kevin Casey)

PSL LA Sub-X Winner (opponent: Robert Drysdale, 2007 ADCC Absolute Winner)

Grapplers Quest West 2007 Pro Division Champion (Final: Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu)

Grapplers Quest West 2006 Pro Division Champion (Final: Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro, 2007 ADCC 99KG winner)

PSL X-Mission Participant (opponent: Vladimir Matyushenko)
He is only 23 years old and carries a 3rd degree bjj black belt (Mir, Nog, Florian got 1st degree, Werdum 2nd degree belt for comparing's sake). We are talking about a world champion class bjj here, it really is just as sick as everyone says. The only question is how well he can use those sick skills on mma, and so far it seems to be working.

Im looking forward to see that too. His kickboxing skills aren't bad at all though, that gunshyness worries me though. He wont get takedowns if he isn't willing to (and able to) take a punch or 2, and no-one in house is dumb enough to just take him down either.

I agree with bbjd7 about Bader though. He has potential too and will prolly get far on mma too, but I still find Vinny more interesting and I hope he ends up getting rid of that gunshyness.

I'm saying he's not as good as Maia or Jacare not that he isn't excellent.

BTW he finished 3rd at Mundials in 2007 he didn't win. This isn't Roger Gracie, Xande Riberio, Maia or Jacare he's great but not that good.

Vinny's biggest obstacle is his attitude: "I don't care about the team." You improve by training with individuals, it IS a team effort to improve as a mixed martial artist. If you carry a shitty attitude about learning, then you're not going to absorb much. The guy's BJJ is legit, but MMA is an entirely different beast, and he really needs to learn how to embrace the team concept.

With a record of 2-2, I think that's pretty obvious.
