The UK has more to be proud of in Bisping than Mr $100 per tooth.
Aside from him losing four of his own teeth and making rather a fool of himself, is that the message we want to be sending out about MMA (idiots betting on injuring each other). I thought it as bad as the Marlon Simms / whoever fight from a few series ago for sending a negative image of the sport - suprised there was no follow up on it.

betting is a huge part of the economics of mma. the UFC used to even list odds during their PPV's. you do know the MGM Grand is a casino, right?

Thanks for clearing that up DW. I don't know how many times one needs to stress a point, but I guess I haven't enough.

Yeah, I know. That's what I meant by "things not to be too proud of".

Bisping's weak apology was a bit thin for such an embarrassing (and telling ) oversight.
Although I agree that some of the USA team members are childish dicks (and some aren't really skillful enough to qualify to be in the house), this thread wasn't intended to be about them or the UK team, was it?

Then he shouldn't have addressed all the UK in the title.

I actually don't agree with Bisping that is a piss poor excuse. I've delt with insomnia my whole life and I travel internationally... jet lag is no joke, and is a bitch to recover from.
Should he have made the fight, absolutely, but it's more serious than taking a nap and hitting snooze a few times.
As far as pride, I think this season is starting to turn around a little bit the more fights they get into it. Hopefully the trend will continue.

First of all, bisping has no excuse and no amount of apologizing is going to make up for what he did. When your getting payed as much as he is, you better damn well make sure you wake up in time to see your fighter fight. Especially when your on national tv. Im suprised dean let it go as easy as he did, i would have been livid personally...I lost a LOT of respect for him after that episode...Pathetic...
Secondly, yea the american team is pretty pathetic but why are people bashing Henderson? He seems like a nice guy, doesn't run his mouth and can back up what he says. Granite, he may not be the worlds best coach but at-least he's trying and not making up excuses for his team or god forbid, missing his fighters fights...

Where is the Henderson bashing? I dont see any in this thread.
Secondly, I think you meant granted as granite makes no sense at all.

Bisping not turning up was shocking, i really felt sorry for the guy, who's fight he missed, he must have felt really hurt and let down. Assuming Bispings excuse is legit, and im sure it is, then its a mistake,. not intended, so lets move on. Unfortunate sure,. but not the end of the world.
Im proud of the UK guys. We are a small Island, the US is huge, and has a much bigger pool of fighters to choose from, so im really pleased our boys are doing so well.
