The UK Must Be Proud

I can only imagine how proud team UK (and the UK fanbase) is to have their country's representative and coach of this season snore through one of his team's fights as a no show.

I'm thinking that this is the first time a coach has missed a fight in the TUF series! The snide, smack talking Michael Bisping talks up the "team thing", but clearly seems unable to lead by example.

Any thoughts?

No doubt, and it is sad cuz these few guys are what alot of the world recognizes as a typical "yank".

Love how everyone is jumping on Bisping, at least he admitted that it was a piss poor excuse and apologized.

Im proud with what the UK have done so far, they've been very respectful in the house and are up 3-2.

WAR UK!

Regardless

We all know Deam Amasinger wasn't going to beat Demarques Johnson. Dean was the weakest UK fighter and he was definetly losing to a triangle choke. Bisping called the fight and he was snoring through it.

Dude got his teeth knocked out, fake or not that is hardcore.

I don't think it makes sense that someone from the US or the UK opens a thread on pride to be honest, because both teams have things to be not too proud of. :confused05: There are only 2 guys on Team US that are not total dicks and those hang around the UK guys because they can't stand their own team members. Plus if Dean didn't think it was too much of a big deal then I'm ok with that.

The UK has more to be proud of in Bisping than Mr $100 per tooth.

Aside from him losing four of his own teeth and making rather a fool of himself, is that the message we want to be sending out about MMA (idiots betting on injuring each other). I thought it as bad as the Marlon Simms / whoever fight from a few series ago for sending a negative image of the sport - suprised there was no follow up on it.

I actually don't agree with Bisping that is a piss poor excuse. I've delt with insomnia my whole life and I travel internationally... jet lag is no joke, and is a bitch to recover from.

Should he have made the fight, absolutely, but it's more serious than taking a nap and hitting snooze a few times.

As far as pride, I think this season is starting to turn around a little bit the more fights they get into it. Hopefully the trend will continue.

First of all, bisping has no excuse and no amount of apologizing is going to make up for what he did. When your getting payed as much as he is, you better damn well make sure you wake up in time to see your fighter fight. Especially when your on national tv. Im suprised dean let it go as easy as he did, i would have been livid personally...I lost a LOT of respect for him after that episode...Pathetic...

Secondly, yea the american team is pretty pathetic but why are people bashing Henderson? He seems like a nice guy, doesn't run his mouth and can back up what he says. Granite, he may not be the worlds best coach but at-least he's trying and not making up excuses for his team or god forbid, missing his fighters fights...

Where is the Henderson bashing? I dont see any in this thread.

Secondly, I think you meant granted as granite makes no sense at all.

Bisping not turning up was shocking, i really felt sorry for the guy, who's fight he missed, he must have felt really hurt and let down. Assuming Bispings excuse is legit, and im sure it is, then its a mistake,. not intended, so lets move on. Unfortunate sure,. but not the end of the world.

Im proud of the UK guys. We are a small Island, the US is huge, and has a much bigger pool of fighters to choose from, so im really pleased our boys are doing so well.

Let's face it Dean is not a fighter in any sense, Bisping was probably embaressed to turn at his corner. Dean would have lost either way.

Anyway I think Bisping is doing far better than Hendo who doesn't really seem to be doing anything, everytime he talks it sounds like hes scared of getting shot down. ***** needs some balls and team spirit.

I honestly think he would of not got tri choked if bis was there screaming orders...That early into the trainning and it being quiet during the fight the commands would of rang out in his head like bombs exploding.

IMO UK lost that fight because Bis was not screaming to watch for the choke.

lol, no instead you have the most unhealthy traditional foods in the world, and have a fish n chips place on every corner that doesnt have a mcdonald's... can you guys eat anything without frying it or shaping it into a sausage or pie? :D

in any case, uk's average obesity rate today is just a little lower than the us's, and some US states have a lower obesity rate than the UK average. furthermore, studies have shown that the uk has the highest obesity rates of all of europe.

Im proud of the UK team, there a great bunch of lads.

Quick question, is the guy who trains the US team from the Uk because he sounds like he is? (the really tall guy)

I wasn't going to rise to the bait, but I couldn't resist in the end.

TBH I am sure that Team UK are so much prouder than Team USA, considering they are doing very nicely in the octagon, getting along well without bitching and whining or betting on knocking peoples teeth out only to look like assholes when THAT particular plan back fires.

Whereas the US team look like well rounded fighters at the top of their game, with no emotional issues and excellent team spirit.

Dean was upset at the time, it affected his performance to be sure, but he was probably the weakest member of Team UK against the strongest member of Team USA, and if he has forgiven Bisping and understands the reason (however weak) then that is the matter closed. The whole team including Dean seem to have got over the matter - perhaps you should too?

It has come to something though that Team UK are doing so well in comparison that Bisping sleeping in has become the issue you are parading as a measure of Team USAs vast superiority. Keep grasping at straws :p
