What happened? I was really looking forward to this fight. I was hoping to see an ass-kicking, but then they announced the Pearson fight... what gives?
I think Bisbing may have been worried about Faulkner's leg and wanted to give it another couple of days to heal. Since he was picking the fight he decided to have the light weights fight instead. At least that's what I assumed happened.
Did you see the size of the lump on Daves leg in the trailer for next weeks episode? If it is that big a few days after Ross' fight he couldn't have fought at all.
Plus as the doctor put him on antibiotics for the infection I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been given clearance to fight - if he damaged the localised infection it could spread and become much worse.
At least that's my take on the situation, it could just be that they want to make Pierce panic for a few days longer to completely rule out any desire to fight at all (although he doesn't seem too keen anyway)
Nah i cant see pierce backing out. i mean why even bother to turn up at all if thats the case. BTW Faulkner can be his own worst enemy at times, he has confidence issues, so when the fight goes ahead, its not a given result for him.
Of all the seasons of TUF and all the PPV fights, there is no doubt, no question that there is a certain mentality about fighters. No matter if they are assholes or layed back they still all have that fighter/ killer instinct, that desire to be competitive. It is modern day colleseum gladiators. To pit one's ability and skill against another's.
I am a really layed back person and I don't have that "I'm gonna kick everyone's ass" mentality, but when I am working out or training I feel that desire to compete with another. Whether it's MMA, football, lifting, hockey, you name it. The point is that it is there in competative people. And Pierce just isn't a competative person. I went to training with 2 tore calf muscles and turf toe to cap it off.
I have a friend like him that lifts @ my gym, decent size guy, square build. He invited me to come work out with him a few times and everytime he ends up talking to people at the gym the whole time instead of lifting. Needless to say I went back to lifting with my normal partner.
To summerize I agree with Danna in the fact that Pierce does not have a fighter (competative) spirit. Pierce knows and he knows he should've changed his tampon, whiped away the sand and stepped up. just my humble opinion.
Pierce has some real issues AND he would of lost that fight.
Just my two cents.
