As an American, the American team disgusts me!

These arent the top 16 MMA prospects in America. Its a friggin joke. These guys cant fight They are a bunch of jouneyman that will never grace the Octogon. Jason Dent, give me a ****in break. All these guys are ****in sideshow.. I see not one guy with any skill.

Dana should have gotten a bunch of all american wrestlers, and let them train 6 weeks with Dan Henderson and they would wipe the floor with the Brits.

Because from what Ive seen. Not one of them are UFC material.

Same for the Brits, I dont see too much talent there either. Maybe 3-4 guys deserve a shot at fighitng in the Octogon and maybe 1-2 Americans. But if you ask me the talent is the worst yet.

Can you imagine some of these LW's fighting BJ Penn or GSP, its almost comical. I dont even have to name a ranked fighter. DO you think any of them deserve to fight a guy like Chris Lytle or Dustin Hazelette? They would get SMOKED!!

The point of the show is to find the next Diego Sanchez, Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin. And its clear, he is not on this show.

And dont try to sell me on that LW Brit faught Shaun White last night. The red head was landing on him, and he isnt even UFC material.

I will watch, cuz I like the drama. But overall, the skills on these guys suck.

Im not hating on any particular country. I just want to see the best prospects fighting for a job in the UFC. I think the Brits came to fight and have brought there best guys. But the US didnt and it pisses me off.

One or two guys may surprise you. I doubt it, but it's possible. The ultimate fighter tends to make guys improve because they get in good training and they start to take their game more seriously because of this once in a life time opportunity.

I've only watched a few episodes myself because I lost my provider.

They dont have one black belt or all american wrestler on the team. Its pathetic. Just get a guy like Koscheck or Maynard. Both raw as fcuk but had freakish athletic ability and with proper traing turned into great fighters. The guys they got now, are just garbage small circuit scrubs.

Stapler 05-14-2009 04:04 PM

I wasn't aware of that. Some of the guys guys possess submission ability so I guess we can't rule out everything yet. Isn't Diego Sanchez a purple belt? You wouldn't think so considering he can out grapple many black belts. Not like I'm comparing any of these average joes to Diego Sanchez, but some are still young.

I understand about wrestlers, though. It seems like that is the most effective style if you are just starting out in MMA. Ask Bader, Maynard, or Koscheck. Nothing like being able to dictate where a fight goes. If a wrestler of that calibur were on this season, I would pick them to win for sure.

yea after watching the episode last night, i probl wont watch the show anymore. It makes me embaressed to be an American and it grinds my gears to know that this is what everyone will think that American fighters are made of. bull.

The wrestling thing is bugging me. Isn't there usually a OMG great wrestler on the show? I don't see any on this season. Isn't great wrestling one of the big things for American based MMA fighters?

When I think of a likely skill for a fighter based on nothing but country origin I think
USA - Wrestling
UK - Boxing
Brazil - BJJ
etc

Of course not always the case but wrestling is very big in American school's sports programs.

I think the guy who crys alot who is shit scared with the mohawk aswell as Damarcus(massive D-bag)are the US best prospects, other than that I dont think the rest are up to much.

The guys from the UK on a whole arnt that bad, there certainly not the best the UK has to offer but they have potential.

Lachk 05-15-2009 06:39 PM

I don't think that they are the top 16 fighters in the UK, I just think the talent pool is a lot deeper in the UK than most Americans thought so they are shocked.

Don't forget that the US is 9 series into TUF whereas apart from Bisping and Pointon we haven't had any representation before. So the UK team are all desperate to embrace the concept and work as hard as possible for the opportunity whereas the US team have seen knobheads like Junie get beaten and still get fights on UFC cards.

Dana won't fly a clown in from the UK when he has a choice in the US already, so the UK guys know to get invited back you need to win or be VERY impressive in losing.

dario03 05-15-2009 09:24 PM

Valid points except most of the US team didn't look to good against each other either. So you don't even have to compare the US team to the UK team to be disappointed.
