True he isn't one now that he has entered the realm of professional fighting, but I think he will always have the aura or reputation of being a street fighter.

Honestly I am really not really thrilled about Kimbo coming to the UFC, he'll put asses in seats but nothing more than that. I see Kimbo doing as well in the UFC as Houston Alexander, big scary looking bastard who can swing, but really lacks a chin and anything else.

Who knows though, every interview I have seen with Kimbo he seems humble and likable enough, plus if Rampage is coaching him, I can see a lot of fun between those two on the show. I just don't see Kimbo being the force every fan of his expects.

Dana said before he would give Kimbo a shot to earn his way on TUF and to give Kimbo credit he accepted. If he flames out early you won't see him in the UFC or on UFC cards, if he does well(and earns some shots equal to some of the other shots granted TUF vets) he will have deserved it by past standards in regards to competitors on TUF's season's past. Many of them don't deserve it but if Kimbo does reasonably well coupled with his fans and market appeal(good and bad) he'll get his chance.

He's got my respect for at least trying and I'll wait to see how he does and takes advantage of the opportunity before saying anything.

Yeah, he was. But Dana didn't sign a street fighter for TUF. He signed a former street fighter.
I bet he'd have a problem with Rampage, too, if dude was still beating up crackheads.
TUF is the best way for UFC to use Kimbo. They can cash in one what fame he has without compromising their integrity the way EXC did.

Kimbo hasn't been a street fighter in a long time.

Also, he has a 3-1 MMA record, so he's had professional MMA fights, he stopped street figthing a long time ago. He's now considered an MMA fighter, regardless of how bad he is.

Personally, I think it'll be very interesting to see how well he does in the house.

Yeah, can't believe Dana would let a street fighter (Ryu?) into UFC. I mean guys like Don Frye must be so disappointed with him....

Kimbo in the UFC

the end of TUF tonight where it said "KIMBO SLICE TO BE ON TUF 10" above amir sodollah talking? I wonder if thats dana/spikes doings. I'm sure dana has to approve that maybe..dunno. Just shows how powerful that almight dollar is. First fighter i've ever seen advertised for TUF 3 months before season starts. Dana was hating on Shaw for hyping him..wtf is he doing? Only difference is dana hasnt said he is baddest man on planet. When he said "i'd make a season of TUF HW just for him" he wasnt lying.

Disclaimer: I actually like Kimbo.

They are doing it because he's a celebrity. They would do the same thing if a celebrity famous for something else than fighting was to participate in TUF. It doesn't mean they think he's the greatest MMA fighter ever.
