TUF Spin-off Idea

I was just wondering if anyone else thought it would be cool for there to be a show similar to the tuf series, except with 8 pride fighters and 8 ufc fighers. Due to obvious issues champions wouldnt be involved nor would 1/2 contenders. But I still think it would be great to see the groups throw some fighters togeter. The sh'it talking and grudge fights would be great.

Yeah. It would be interesting. The problem is the rules. Pride fighters train for the Pride rules and UFC for UFC rules. Now I suppose if they came over here the Pride guys would have to fight using UFC rules. But I think it would create problems when one of the Pride fighters forgets and Footstops/knees to the head one of the UFC guys and takes him out of the show completely.

True, it would be something to workout, but it could be a really good show. Also, I am sure that quite a few pride guys would be really into it considering the fact that they would be exposed to a primetime US audience greatly expanding their fan base.

There wouldn't be much point in this unless you had recognizable UFC and Pride fighters, would there? The whole excitement of the Pride vs. UFC debate is the issue of which league has better fighters - not which league has better rules. So if you use no-names, it becomes a question of how to compromise on the rules, which really isn't that interesting (to me, anyway).

But if you could set up a series of UFC vs. Pride fights with fighters I know, I'd watch that in a heartbeat, regardless of the rules used.

i think a cool thing for TUF to do would be to televise the tryouts for TUF. Like American Idol. We could laugh at the wanna be's.

Haha. A TUF similar to American Idol would be great. Those are some tryouts I'd just love to watch.. heck, I'd even get involved. They could go around to the college campuses auditioning people. And after the fight, a panel of judges could give comments about the fight to the people. Only problem would be judging the fighters. If two guys go against each other, both suck... do you send the winner forward because he won?

Good idea either way. Maybe a point system to determine who is worthy to advance.
