Maybe KIMBO's not that bad afterall?!?

Perhaps we've all spread a little to much hate on loveable Kimbo. It appears as though he's getting some solid training and maybe he'll suprise us all with a sweet Kimura or something.......

What do ya'll think? If Kimbo were to win TUF, would you accept him yet?

He trained with Bas Rutten BEFORE he got beat by Petruzelli, so we're not going to see any Bas-related improvement of Kimbo on TUF - which sucks because I miss Bas and his devastating leg kicks and liver shots.

However, this HW TUF was made for Kimbo by DW, so he should be pretty motivated to win it. Plus he's got to move out of his parents' house and support all those kids, so a 6-figure contract would help.

I guess it depends on the calibre of fighters in this season.

I dont think so.

This is an unbelievably absurd comment.

It seems incredibly obvious to me that this roster is packed with guys who are bigger, stronger and better than Kimbo Slice.

The presence of Roy Nelson alone demonstrates that the UFC doesn't expect Kimbo to win the show. After all, they're putting in a guy who won and defended (twice) the IFL title and has fought two well respected, very accomplished heavyweights in Arlovski and Monson.

Not to mention the presence of a UFC veteran (and giant) in Wes Sims.

Kimbo Slice is going to be one of the smallest fighters in the house. If what I'm hearing about Schoonover's weight gain is true, he may very well be the smallest fighter in the house.

Certainly, the note that half of the guys on the roster (exactly 8 of 16, from what I can tell) are over 265 pounds naturally, with four former NFL players, Kimbo will be one of the least accomplished athletes in the house (though not the least accomplished fighter; an honor which belongs to former Giants tackle Matt Mitrione, who hasn't made a professional debut yet).

Not only is this season not going to be easy for Kimbo, he's basically a prohibitive underdog.

I think what he meant when he said the season was meant for Kimbo was not that it was meant for Kimbo to win, but that it was literally made for Kimbo, as in the use of HW on the show was decided on so Kimbo would be on it. My best guess is dana made the show for Kimbo so Kimbo would lose early...

I read in an interview with Kimbo in MMA Magazine (sounds like I'm trying to sell it) and he said that Bas was more of a moral supporter than an actual trainer.

And no, Kimbo will not win and he is just an untalented as we all think he is.

Again, I really, really doubt that.

On this roster you have a lot of guys that the UFC is going to look to build up as they bring them into the division.

Why not do a heavyweight season to hype NFL players that haven't really developed technical skills yet?

Why not use the opportunity to bring in a few respected MMA veterans to regain the credibility of the show that it's lost in recent seasons?

And, while we're at it, why not catch an even larger audience of casual fans by putting Kimbo Slice on the show?

While the third thought is important, it's hardly the one of these that the UFC has the most to gain from.

After all, if Kimbo gets killed on the show (as I think we all believe he will), he'll continue to be a sideshow spectacle, but will be booted after (at best) one or two unsuccessful bouts in the UFC.

By the way, the comment about his training with Rutten should really be taken in the context of some of the comments that Rutten has made about Kimbo more recently, namely about how much the guy sucks.

After Elite Xtreme Combat ceased operations, Dana White stated that if Slice wanted to compete in the the Ultimate Fighting Championship he would have to win his way in by competing on The Ultimate Fighter TV show. White went on to say that he would create a show with heavyweights just for Kimbo Slice if he wanted in.[citation needed] That statement became reality and on June 1, when Kevin Iole of Yahoo.com stated Slice would participate in The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. The coaches lined up for the show are, Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans, both former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions.[35]
When I first read that I didn't notice it didn't have a citation and took it as fact. No need to be offensive.
