Brendan Schaub on Rampage: "You would think he'd be a bit more educated [on talent]."

Jeez, Rampage is getting it from all sides. Schaub has some hilarious quotes here. I think that Rampage is a really bad coach and judge of talent. Schaub says that he picks guys based on size not skill and that is true. He really shouldn't be a coach.

TUF 10 heavyweight Brendan Schaub may be one of the younger fighters in the house, but his experience working with top-level talent plays to his advantage tremendously.

Last Wednesday in his "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 10 opening round fight against Demico Rogers, we saw Schaub on his back receiving several stiff elbows from Team Rampage's Demico Rogers. What we didn't see, was a panic-stricken fighter looking to do anything he could, at that moment, to get out of his precarious position.

Instead Schaub did what any seasoned veteran would do -- he remained calm and looked for Rogers to make a mistake. And the minute Rogers looked to improve his position, Schaub transitioned into an anaconda choke and tapped his opponent out for the win.

"It's my biggest advantage," said Schaub. "I don't panic. In practice, I have Shane Carwin on top of me -- Nate Marquardt, Eliot Marshall, Rashad Evans, Keith Jardine... the list goes on and on. Seeing guys like that every day and training with guys like that, I've been in bad positions before. It's just another day to me and I consider myself no slouch on the ground. Most people know me for my stand up but I'm pretty tough on the ground too."

Perhaps the most comical part of last weeks' show featured Team Rashad's Matt Mitrione giving up all the fight match-ups that Rashad Evans and his coaches had planned out for the season's first round. Mitrione was dubbed a snitch and accused of giving the fights away so he would not have to face former NFL stand-out and perhaps the largest man on the show, Marcus Jones.

"Matt's just a snitch man," laughed Schaub. "He couldn't wait to get it out. I really didn't care. It wasn't that big of a deal to me. I thought he just told the other team about his match-up. I was like 'Alright, that makes sense.' As it went on... no, he told all the match-ups. Most of the guys had a big problem with it. Most of the guys thought that he just didn't want to fight Marcus [Jones]. Marcus is a big dude with a lot of talent and I think Matt was looking for an easier way out. His snitching worked, you know. He shook things up. So you guys will see how it pans out."

Quinton Jackson's coaching is once again exposed and falling under some harsh criticism from Team Rashad fighters. From Jackson's early picking methods and lack of sympathy to his team's training strategies, nothing is left unscathed.

"Rampage kind of picked his guys not based on talent," said Schaub. "He might as well have lined everyone up and had us weigh in. 240 lbs, nope too small. 265 lbs, we'll take him. You know, he just took monsters. You would think he'd be a little more educated on that and take guys based on talent and not size. I think that's our advantage. I think it was funny how smart our coaches were in training and how way off Team Rampage coaches were. These cats had by far the biggest dudes in the house and they were running seven miles. They would get up every morning and just jog. You don't get cardio from jogging seven miles. When you're 280 pounds you should not be jogging. My favorite part about it was, one day they go to run five or seven miles and Marcus couldn't run because he's just too big. So they were like, 'Oh, just get on the bike and go in the sauna and then when we come back just go out.' Well, no one told him that they were back (laughs). He's in there for an hour man, about to pass out. He was so pissed (laughs). I thought he was trying to cut to 205 lbs man."
Pretty funny stuff, totally agree, man he picked some bad guys. Rashad's a dick but at least he wouldn't leave his fighter crying in the octagon alone.
