Kos/Daley Winner to coach TUF 12 against GSP?

Following Saturday's UFC 111 event at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. – the latest blockbuster event for the world's top fight promotion – White dropped some hints.

Soon after telling MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) about his plans for international editions of "The Ultimate Fighter," White said a UFC 113 co-headliner between top contenders Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley could have something extra riding on the line besides a potential title fight with UFC welterweight champion and UFC 111 main-event winner Georges St-Pierre.

"I'm working on something right now that I can't talk to you guys about because I don't have it done yet," White said of the Koscheck-Daley fight, which takes place May 8 at UFC 113 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. "But it has to do with that fight, so we'll see what happens."

White has dropped similar hints in the past, and some of them later proved to involve coaching stints for top UFC stars on "TUF," the UFC and Spike TV's long-running reality series. Later this week, the UFC hosts an open tryout for the show's 12th season, which will feature lightweight and light-heavyweight fighters.

No coaches have been named for the show, but it's been three years since welterweight coaches appeared on the series. (Matt Serra and Matt Hughes coached "TUF 6" in late 2007.)

And while the UFC struggles to find quality opponents for St-Pierre – specifically, opponents the champ hasn't already beaten once before – a three-month weekly run on Spike TV could generate interest in a title defense against either Koscheck (who lost once before to the champ) or Daley (a British fighter who's never faced St-Pierre). If there's one thing "TUF" still does well (besides develop talent), it's building interest in season-ending coach-vs-coach fights.

The potential coaching gigs, though, are just an educated guess. White made no specific reference to the possibility and simply smirked when pressed for details.

In any manner, "TUF 12" is slated to debut in September with a live season finale in December. It follows "TUF 11," which debuts Wednesday following a live broadcast of UFC Fight Night 21.

I really dislike it when they hold up the title with stunts like this. I know it gives the WW division some much needed time to sort itself out, but Kos vs. Daley is still months away, and we then have to sit through an entire season of TUF before seeing GSP fight again? Frankly, I don't know if I can make it that long... I'd like to see GSP fight tomorrow, just so I don't have to sit through months and months of boxing fans posing as MMA fans moaning about how GSP is 'one dimensional' and 'doesn't finish fights'.

I doubt this will happen. Id love to see Florian and Sanchez coach a new season of TUF and have their anticipated rematch. It would be funny to see Diego coaching as well, YES, YES YES.

Going with daley for another first round KO still.

I hate when title holders go on TUF, if anything...they should have title contenders go there, and fight for a chance at GSP or someone else.

Ditto what has been said- screw holding up the WW title for TUF or any division for that matter- it sucks royally. Plus the fact GSP is coming off a 8 month layoff and doesn't need TUF to create another long delay.

I've already stopped watching TUF and this will only give me another to hate it more. :thumbsdown:

holding up the ww title might not necessarily be a bad idea. GSP has destroyed pretty much all the top contenders, it's so bad that swick/kampmann were fighting for no1 contender...

with the time it takes for kos/daley to fight, do tuf and fight for the title, a new contender could emerge. at the most it'll take another 8-9 months for the next title shot, which gives time for a top WW to pick up 2 big wins and justify a shot.

i wouldn't mind a little 4 man tourny involving fitch, alves, paulo thiago and anthony johnson.

Maybe at a catchweight? The reason i mention this possible idea is because Kenny Florian actually hinted at it himself on mmalive about 3 weeks ago. He said on the show that he would love a rematch with Diego and that maybe coaching TUF could in the works, who knows. I think it would be great series of TUF and a great fight if this happened. Dana needs to make it happen.
