i think that tuf 4 was such a big mistake for the ufc I dont hate the idea all together but why did they choose the ww division. With all the good fighter already in that division (hughes, gsp, sanchez, karo to name a few) this whole serra title shot just messes up the matches for the whole year. I think dana is regreting this decision because now that gsp is hurt it backs up the serra match which messes up the sanchez and hughes match up's with gsp. It would of been alot better bringing back some hw's. The division was so weak it wouldnt really matter who won. Just imagine if we had paul buenetello, cabbage, TANK!!!, and others competing for a title shot. At least we would of seen some nice knockouts on tuf 4 not to mention watching tank scare the shit out of the other people in the house. sorry this got long but what does everyone else think????

Good post, I agree.

The truth is I don't think there are many serious contenders that are UFC vets that would want to be in the house in the HW division. WW and MW are divisions that had a lot of guys who fell off track but still could comeback.

I actually kinda liked TUF 4. I am not going to ***** about it for no reason. I mean the truth is the other seasons of TUF weren't that much better, like some smart asses here think so.

I can understand the thread starter point about the Title picture getting a bit messed up this year, but like someone else said,Hindsight is 20/20. I think the show was still good for UFC. It introduced alot of new fans to old fighters and to UFC/MMA in general.

But really its just one fight(2 fights if your talking both of the TUF4 winners)and thats not a very big deal overall.

My very thoughts regarding HW contenders wanting to live in the house. I could never see Tank agreeing to it, he just looks untamable (if that's a word :dunno: ).
Agreed about the Smith v Sell fight and it has messed up the 1st part of the year. Maybe they should get put in with 3rd or 4th contenders with a contract rather than for the title. That way it wouldn't mess up too much of the schedule and they'd still be up against some good talent. Let's face it, even being in the UFC is enough to draw most fighters in.

I would rather have had 16 heavyweights. Yes, Shonie is a funny guy, but beyond that it wasn't that good of a season. Dewees v Ray, great bloody way, but that was, at least for for me, the highlight of the whole thing.

I really didn't like TUF4 that much. I think that the fighters were to grown up to make d!cks of themselves in the house, which is part of the entertainment, and weren't hungry enough to really go for it in the fights. In previous seasons the personalities of the coaches have been a big part of it, but in 4 the coaches weren't very active, and the only entertainment was Hughes being an ass and Laimon being lazy.

I think all of these were bigger problems than the weight division chosen.

I never had a problem with Laimon and I just disregarded what some of my buddies said about how much of a **** he is, but after watching the show I know what they mean.

I definitely agree that there could have been better fighters on there, I felt like maybe there was too much personality and not enough of the fighters really wanting to win. Lutter was the kind of fighter that I though should be on that show, but Jeremy Jackson? Scott Smith?

Nothing against those guys, but I'm sure there were guys with more of a history in the UFC. Where was Evan Tanner? Where was David Terrell? Those are the guys that should have been there. They deserve title shots.

I just dont really agree with the whole TUF show. I think they belong in a diffrent league. Now that UFC has bought damn near everything they should have monthly Ultimate fight nights. They could have tournaments and stuff on them. Mind you i hate reality t.v.. If the fighter's where that good they would've been in the UFC already. I have never really thought forrest or bonnar or many of the TUF to b any good as you can see if you review my posts. I just think i takes away from guys who actually earned it the hard way (like mentioned earlier Karo, sanchez, bj, hughes) guys who have been there and are getting passed by because of a stupid show.

That is fair comment that you dont think any of the TUF guys are any good, however if the TUF show was never created the UFC wouldnt be where it is today... if you look at the tv ratings for the show its how the UFC got exposed and the reason why the UFC has fighters like Cro Cop and Rampage commin over, just my opinion.
