Kind of crazy to be making predictions on a fight that is going to happen in almost a year from now but what the heck! GSP, as we all know, is very tactical bout his fights coming in with a specific strategy each time. In his last fight with Kos he specifically aimed at keeping the all-american wrestler on his back - a positon he would not be comfortable in. My suspision is that GSP will look to keep the fight on its feet most of the time and mix it up with take downs only occasionally to keep Kos off balance. As I have always said, I believe GSP's stand-up is the best in the division, he just needs to believe it himself. If it had not been for the upset he faced against Sera we would have seen more stand up from GSP in all his fights since but that fight took a big toll on his stand-up confidence. His hands are quicker than most with his Karate background and in the last 2 years he has trained boxing extensively with world class boxers. Both Alves and Fitch can attest to GSP's stand-up with him beating them to the punch at will.

Kos has changed his game up, striking when you dont expect him to. This changes things dramatically since the last time they met. Kos was cocky/over confident about his wrestling TDD defense coming into the first fight... now he knows what to expect and he wont take that part of GSPs game lightly.

Rematches pose a greater problem as both have first hand experience to draw and build upon.

This leaves Kos with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Hopefully GSP will be able to do to Kos what he did to Fitch... quick evasive lateral striking from the outside + quick unpredictable takedowns.

TUF drama will prolly be at an all time high... I dunno how long GSP can keep his composure with Kos being a douche bag evertime they meet
Yeah Kos has as good of a chance as anybody at possibly dethroning GSP, that being said he's still gonna be a massive underdog with the odds stacked highly against him. He's a strong wrestler with KO power, a much better fight than Hardy. I tend to believe GSP's striking is on another level than Kocheck's, Kos has a tendancy to get too right hand happy and most people know it's coming now, where GSP has good technical striking, a good jab, good kicks, and mixes up his strikes along with his TD's very nicely. It's as good a challenge as GSP is gonna get at WW imo unless Fitch can improve more in the next 10+ months.

Okay my only major issue with this is that you make little distinction between a knee to the head of downed opponent versus knee to any other part of a downed opponent when the attacker is standing. In the UFC you CANNOT kick/knee a downed opponent to certain parts of their anatomy while you are standing. Daley was aiming for his head with his knee, whether it hit or not, its still illegal. That's like saying, oh I may have tried to snap his wrist, but I didn't so its not illegal.
It is only illegal if it connects.
Mirgliotta took back the point deduction. If an "attempt" is illegal, and it is hard to prove motive, then Mirgliotta wouldn't have reversed his previous point deduction.

I'm going to enjoy watching GSP smother Kos. The only thing GSP needs to work on against Koscheck is his HTD (Hollywood Theatrics Defense).

GSP should spend some of his training camp in Beverly Hills so he can hit up some local improv classes, maybe check out the Laugh Factory so he can polish that HTD, Kosheck's HT is solid, seriously. Rumor has it Koscheck once got a cop to believe a paraplegic kicked him, nay, an illegal kick.... serious HT.

yeah i know jake is better off his back and just all around in BJJ which is why kos has a better chance because gsp would keep the fight standing like in the fitch fight

I'm gonna call this right now, this will be the best season ever. The biggest babyface of the company coaching against Koscheck who seems to be happy to take on the villain role. The lightweights have always been putting on great fights on TUF. Can't wait for this one.

While I think GSP will take Kos in their fight, it's not gonna be as easy as some of you might think. Koscheck has very legit wrestling, a great ground game and KO power. Kos can roll with the best of them, and if he catches Georges it's lights out. Can GSP take Koscheck down? Sure. Can he take him down at will like Hardy/Alves? Absolutely not.

I guess you didn't see their first fight. I also just saw Kos live in Montreal, while his committment to his take-downs was impressive he was nowhere near the speed that GSP takes guys down. Honestly did not see a lot of improvement in Kos's game.

What are you implying exactly? Did you see their first fight? Kos is the last guy to win a round from GSP in the last 3 years. Kos actually did take GSP down. There's no way I'd call this for Kos, but he is as legit a challenger as there is at 170. He's just as legit as Alves and I'd say more dangerous than Fitch He's 10x the threat as Dan freaking Hardy, which any body with credibility on this forum called rightly a joke way before the fight. Kos has the best wrestling at 170 aside from GSP, solid grappling, outstanding TDD, his cardio is never in question and he has proven KO power in his right hand.

Personally, I'm annoyed as hell that GSP is going to be wasting his time on TUF. But there's a short list of people I care to see fighting GSP at 170 and Kos is top of the list. I don't care to see him fight Fitch or Alves again any time soon since he dominated them both very recently. Aside from that I think Paulo Thiago and Richardo Almeida have a shot in the future after a few more fights.
