Brookins didn't throw one kick.Being in a southpaw stance made me realize that someone could give Aldo trouble if they attacked his front leg.I don't know how Jonathans Muay Thai is but after losing this fight I would have worked on it if I were him.One of the contenders has gotta be thinking the same thing as me.
Kos is a putz. GSP had to plead wit Dana to make Johnson vs. Leeroy, and was adamant that it wouldn't be a 'give me' for MJ. Which ended up being the case. But along comes Kos, telling everyone that GSP essentially threw Bruce Leeroy under the bus. All GSP did was tell Dana and Kos that B.L. would be a hell of a handful. And then with the 'that fight sucked' comments. God, I can't wait for GSP to smash Josh.
Yeah calling a black guy a monkey is a bit to much....even though he does have sort of monkey jujitsu.
God Koscheck was annoying during this one, what the **** was he going on about, I love that only one fighter from his team is moving on.....and based on the previews getting killed.
I can agree with that, Phan is a better striker than Watson and Phan is a BJJ black belt who has never been submitted in professional MMA. It's safe to say that Watson wouldn't be submitting Phan.
The reason Koscheck probably wanted Phan vs. Johnson was because Phan is technically a better striker, and all of Johnson's losses are by submission. Maybe he was considering the possibility of Phan winning the exchanges which would force Johnson to go for a take down. Sort of a risk there considering Johnson is stronger, more athletic, and is a better wrestler.
I think that Phan vs. Watson would have been less of a risk because Phan would probably hold his own grappling with Watson while also winning the exchanges without much of a struggle. Against Johnson, if he is unable to stop the take downs or if he is unable to be threatening off of his back, Johnson might just grind out a win by staying in the top position for the majority of the fight.
Either way, I hope to see Phan in the finals. He is clearly capable of beating Johnson and also the other way around judging by their skill sets. This is a hard fight to call for me.
To be honest I think Koscheck pulled a GSP on Dana. GSP had his (supposedly) best guy fight his weakest guy and now Koscheck has GSP's best guy fighting his worst possible matchup from the guys who are left. On the other hand we have Johnson fighting a guy with better standup and good submissions. That's just the kind of guy he has great problems with. Win-win.
I think Brookins and Watson are pretty clearly the two best fighters and no one else is close. Johnson has looked mediocre in both of his fights. I think Alex would have finished him if it went to a third he was gassing after the first and eating heavy shots. I think GSP figured that Johnson had the best striking of the 3 so he should fight Nam.
I usually stop caring about the coaches at this point in the season, and just root for my favrorite fighters. I like Phan. I think he's pretty good, and would vote for him over everyone but Brookins at this point. BUT...I hate Kos with such a seeting, unbridled passion, that I want everything he likes to be destroyed, and any fighter he is rooting for to lose.
Im just hoping they air the semis before the finale on Saturday! Be daft to air the semis next week AFTER the finale lol
