Cody "The Sleeper" McKenzie

Holy Shit! Did not see that coming. How about some humble pie K-chick.

I'll say this much, the guy might be a "one trick pony" but its a helluva trick.

Jonathan Brookins definitely displayed a very technical jitz game. I'd be very curious to see those two matchup against each other.

That guillotine was incredibly quick though, I dont know if I've seen a quicker one... might have a better guillotine than Joe "Daddy" Stevenson. Saying a lot at this point since its not exactly against elite competition, but wow Cody has one of the quickest executions of the submission I've seen.

You knew it was coming when they put in that big speech from one of Koschek's coaches about being careful of the guillotine. I did not think he could get it that quick though. Wow.

Yeah, I was thinking that only because of Dana Whites comment of "that was some sick jiu jitsu." In all the previews but, I was even more shocked when it came so fast.

I liked how GSP commented(TUF) and Stephan Bonnar did on the aftermath show, that Cody coming out so aggressive might have thrown him off mentally, and made Marc shoot for the takedown out of instinct rather than intelligence, and when he did it I think he wasnt thinking about protecting his neck, and it really helped Cody secure it so fast.

However, there is no discrediting just how insanely quick it was though, I mean that was SLICK. One of the most beautiful guillotine chokes I've ever seen.

I've never done Groundfighting..but I've seen so many Guillotines where fighter managed to get out.
What's his secret? He didn't even tap.. it must have been really tight

He said early in the series (can't remember if it was the 1st show or not) that the method he uses shuts off both main arteries making it quicker to lights out.

I really like this guy's off the wall character too. Although, I think a decent striker with a good TDD will tool him.

That was insane! Fastest guillotine submission I've ever seen.

I'm curious to see how he can set it up, if he can set it up from the clinch aswell somehow he could be a machine with that.

Still don't have him winning it though, think he surely has to be found out now.

Yeah, he said something about turning his arms or something that lets him put more pressure on the sides on the neck. Having said that, he is the type of fighter that will crush bad fighters but look awful against good ones. His standup looks laughably bad, as soon as he fights anyone with any TDD at all he is going to get brutalized.

It also looks more difficult to release the grip, due to the hand position being up around the ear somewhere & using pushing pressure against rather than pulling to tighten it.

(I added that to the post above but you were too quick for me :thumb02:)

After TUF the UFC should definitely set McKenzie up with a fight against Paul 'Mr Triangle' Sass. That'd be an epic grappling contest, I'd love to see it.
