Nam Phan War Train

I want this man to win it. Not just because he is Team Krotcheck's shining hope, but I like his style of fighting...and his boxing is effective (good combos and body shots). He seems to not crumble under pressure either.

WAR PHAN!!!!

Ehh... I don't know. I feel like he's had an easy road so far. Spencer got injured mid fight or I feel like he would have taken the fight. Then Cody... who is a tough guy and all but just doesn't seem to have the same level of training as everyone else... has to rely on out smarting them instead of just beating them with skills or talent.

But Nam seems to be well rounded. I feel like Cody would have actually beaten him if he didn't gas out. There's also Nam's record... 7 losses... seems like a lot considering the competition.

He seemed a little shakey to begin with and he needs to work on getting away from the cage. But his gas tank looks great and you can see he doesnt mind getting punched in the face. I hope he can pull this off!!!

I'm more on the Damn Nam train, I don't want to see this guy win another fight. It's nothing against him, he's a very nice guy but I want last nights event to be the last time Koscheck celebrates in the ring again.

Besides I really want to see Brookins vs Johnson in an epic wrestle-off in the finals.

Nefilim777 11-11-2010 02:56 PM

Well Koscheck and his team embarrassed themselves again with their celebrations, but regardless the result was deserved. I really like that crazy Alaskan Cody, but I'm starting to think he's just a one trick pony, yeah his guillotine is crazily impressive, but his stand up is just... awkward. He says unorthodox, but its not, its just sloppy. If he worked on his kickboxing a little he good be a prospect, but not until then.

I'm on this train for sure. I've been a fan of Nam Phan since this season started. I had a feeling that his whole "jogging around for long periods of time on his off time" idea would pay off. The guy knows that conditioning is almost always a problem on the ultimate fighter and he is utilizing that to his advantage. I like how he utilizes body punches as well. I don't see someone doing that often, but he does, and it works well for him obviously. I think the reason he doesn't get broken easily is because he has been knocked out before and has the experience to know that these things happen. He still has great hands and some power of his own when he mixes in those body punches. Dana White was right, he is well rounded. He has good hands, great conditioning, experience, and is also a BJJ black belt.

I hope he wins the tournament this season, although he still has to go up against some tough prospects. It's not over yet.

On a side note, why were a lot of people picking McKenzie by submission in the first round by guillotine choke? Nam is a BJJ black belt and has never been submitted. People shouldn't get fascinated by the hype so easily in my opinion.

I like Nam Pham a lot but i just dont see him getting by my projected winners of the next fight or Brookins. I think Kyle Watson and Michael Johnson will advance. All 3 of those guys i feel can beat Pham. I would really like to see a Brookins/Johnson finale.

I think Nam's reach may be in question.

He's 5'6, whereas the other fighters are pushing 6'. He doesn't seem to really have the option of getting inside without getting manhandled against the side of the cage, or taken down.

Its possible in the fights to come, he'll be dominated at long range, standing, without being able to close the distance and inflict damage.

I was really impressed with the way he absorbed the GnP from McKenzie, though. Also, there was a body kick at the end of round 1 that looked like it inflicted some damage.

Nam Phan tanked those hits and kept coming.

I like Nam but i dont think he will win it. Semis, maybe final at best.

Joabbuac 11-12-2010 08:12 AM

Nam could fight down at 145 tbh, he wont be the better grapplers bar Michael Johnson due to a off his back sub.
