Maximum respect to GSP but I think his tactics for Cody were completely wrong.

I think it would have been better if he had left Cody to fight his own fight.

Fair enough in his previous fight Nam looked absolutely amazing with his striking techniques. So I understand that tactic of getting Cody to trap Nam against the cage.

But all it did was completely gas Cody's arms out. Before Cody totally gassed out I thought he was having good success particularly with his longer arms. of course the tactics are important, but sometimes I think it's best to say to someone fight your own fight.

When your only means to win is a guillotine there's really no game plan on earth that will help you against a fighter who knows how to not get guillotined.

Pretty much. In addition, GSP was training with Cody on a daily basis, whereas we as viewers are only seeing him in short clips of the show. I'm going to put more faith in GSP and his entire coaching staff (who are professionals and champions in the business) with their day to day training than my own opinion watching a few clips once a week.

I do agree that they should have been a bit more cognicent of the fact that Cody was gassing, but what can you really do? When you're fighting an altogether better fighter, go for the tried and true Jackson strategy: Hold him and get the W.

He's the kind of guy that is so awkward striking that its painful to watch, Cody beat himself by not having tip top cardio and thats the one thing he could have improved even without guidance and even then he probably would not have won, you can only do so much with the amount of talent you have and I think he's gone just about as far as his will take him.

Cody was winning until he was completely gassed. I would say the gameplan worked but his cardio is terrible vs someone that runs everyday just because haha.

Watching Cody stand was like watching drunk ppl fight.......Throwing a random sloppy spinning back fist at a heavy bag doesnt make your style "unorthodox".....it just makes it sloppy....GSP saw this and made the best possible gameplan

Completely agree. I knew as soon as they announced Cody was fighting Nam that he was going to get trashed. Gody won his first two really quick but from what I saw of his stand up it was terrible. Doesn't matter if you call it unorthodox, you can't mask the fact that it's shitty.

True true true Cody has some drastic changes in line

I agree with others he was winning while he was implementing GSP's game plan. Once he gassed and stated letting Nam be the aggressor he was done.

Or he can just quit while he's ahead. Don't get me wrong, i think he can improve, he just doesn't seem like he wants to. From waht I saw on the show he seems to fully believe his "unorthodox" striking is actually GOOD. I mean the guy said "Yeah I got boired guillotineing everyone so I just KO'd the guy" like he ISN'T going to get shit stomped if his guillotine first plan doesn't work on the UFC level. I mena seriously the best game plan to beat him is just punch him in the face a few times and never, ever try to take him down. Unless your striking is middle school bully level or lower, you're going to beat him standing as his best defense is "turn my head and drop my hands while trying to run away with my back to the cage".
