The joke of TUF 4 is now complete!

Everybody was saying how these guys who were on TUF did not deserve a title shot! They thought this show was somewhat of a joke because the winner gets a title shot. Travis Lutter had the chance to shut all those people up. He could have shown legitimacy to the show but he failed to make weight. Maybe he reached his limit on how much weight he could lose or he just didn't plan properly for cutting weight. This experiance will add fuel to the fire to those who said from the start that this comeback concept sucked. Unless Matt Serra can do something, I think the Comeback concept just went straight to hell.

The most stupid Comment ever. Lutter didnt make weight cuz he got No personnel Trainer. He got is own School he is the sensai of a lot of student. Didnt make wieght cuz is life style was maybe to hard to handle for him Work training family . Didnt make cut enough weight so what. Dont call him a fatass or a ***** or a looser for that. He gave every thing he had. mounted Silva. did 2 round and lost by elbow striking( that was maybe illegal)

i never cared for that season or many of the fighters. But where lutter made some people angry he kinda impressed me, i think he could do alot better if he properly prepared.

He needs to get his act together and try try again.

very well said dude but i never thought that those elbows could have been illegal

I agree with Steve-d, Lutter could have done so much better.... trying to lose all that weight in a day is very unhealthy to the body. He kind of looked sluggish as he attempted the armbar right before Silva escaped the mount.

I think there was a thread about the illegal elbow conspiracy. I honestly think they were legitimate.

The elbows, under current MMA regulations followed by the U.F.C., were at best marginally legal. The U.F.C. clearly states that downward elbow strikes along with rabbit punches are not a legal action. Considering that Silva delivered downward elbow strikes on or around the back of the head would make them technically ilegal (under 2 separate regulations). Don't get me wrong, I don't think Silva should be DQ'd from the fight (I personally don't think downward elbows should be ilegal), but they were definitely borderline given the current rule set. In the post fight interview Lutter even goes on to say that it wasn't the elbows that forced him to tap, it was the triangle. The elbows were just the icing on the cake.

As far as the weight loss goes (according to Travis in his post fight interview), he said that he was to the point where he was not losing any more water weight. With only an hour and a half to go he had to lose 2 and a half pounds.

Now I've never had to cut weight, so I don't know all the technical aspects. But unless someone calls BS, I would take it as a valid excuse. Albeit poor preparation and execution on Travis's part, but valid.

Silva said he felt it was an insult to him as well as the sport, but he got 3000 extra dollars for because Lutter got fined.

If Lutter was at full health i have no doubt he would have been able to beat Silva for the title. lol Serra beating GSP is so stupid its not even funny.

He lost by triangle choke.

It is pretty obvious if you rewind it. For the most of the triangle Lutter had his hand to his ear, preventing being choked out. If you noticed Silva at the end finally pulls his arm under his body and locks the triangle in. It was clear how much tighter the triangle got at that point. I think any outlet that says the fight ended by tap out due to elbow strikes is flat out wrong.

Also anyone who can't make weight has no excuse. Every single fighter on the fight card made weight, excpet A TITLE SHOT contender? That is simply pathetic. Maybe he does teach a lot of students, then he should quit UFC if that is more important. He clearly doesn't respect the title or UFC, and I hope he never ever gets another title shot.
