Are you guys concerned about the FOX ultimate fighter?

http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/UFC...ast-Deal-34862

What are your thoughts with the spike ultimate fighter? It sais in the article above that all seasons will be 24 episodes, with all fights being aired live.

My concerns, (or ideas on how it could turn out). FOX is extremely rating based, so they might take the nbc route and chop up the fights like they did with the contender. Also voting for who fights is awsome, but seems very american idol.
Dana will more than ever be pushing fighters to finish, and you can never rule out the idea of greasy fox executives having some control over the outcome. I also hope they are very carefull with the fighter selection, and still try to pick talented fighters, not reality show stars. So many mma D-bags might get way to big to fast.

on the other hand there are some posotive aspects. What do you guys think?

(ps excuse the lack of good formatting or grammar)

I hope the UFC was smart enough to negotiate more control over fighter selection than they had with Spike.

Concerned about what? TUF has been going down the drain for awhile now, IMO. I don't see how Fox could ruin it anymore.

Hopefully Fox doesn't go the route spike went and put people on the show for ratings. I'd like to see them make an effort to find legitimate competitors.

Find some actual talent, that's the only thing that will revive it.

Imagine if Ryan Bader and Jon Jones had been the TUF Finale.

What if Charles Olivera had fought John Makdessi on TUF?

That's what they need to do.

TUF has been worse and worse every season I really don't think FOX can ruin it anymore, I actually think the concept will be interesting and at least fresh.

BTW doesn't this thread belong in the TUF subsection of this forum?

I can't see this happening, at least not at the beginning. They're going to need to attract a stable audience at first, just to ensure it's worth their while financially. Once they actually turn a profit on showing TUF then they might begin to work hard at actually producing talent for the UFC

I stopped watching TUF a few seasons ago so now I will actually tune in for the first season on FOX to see how it goes. If it goes like the last few then I'll tune out but it the changes work I gladly get back into the show.

I'm mostly excited about the exhibtion fights going away and everything counting, they always said it was because the fights didn't air live.

Well, if it's on the the actual FOX network it will most likely be a total mess. FOX wants ratings so they will cast a bunch of guys that want to be reality TV stars instead of fighters. Hopefully the UFC realized this and was able to maintain some control of fighter selection. Secondly, I can indeed see FOX chopping up fights and compiling some type of cheesy slow mo highlight thing with terrible music playing in the background. I watch TUF for the fights, so hopefully this won't be the case.

I'd have more confidence if it was on FOX Sports, they did used to have the old Pride show with Glazer and Trigg. Though even in that show they would chop up fights and not show anything that as particularly violent.
