Sacramento's Faber to Avenge Loss at ARCO
Urijah Faber will have a chance to avenge his first loss in three years and regain his WEC featherweight title in front of his hometown fans.
The rematch with Mike Brown is scheduled for June 7 at ARCO Arena.
"This is going to be huge." Faber told News10. "The last time I was here (ARCO Arena) it was the biggest fight in WEC history, I think for sure this is going to surpass that."
Brown won the featherweight belt in November 2008 when he knocked Faber to the canvas with a hard right, winning the bout by TKO in the 1st round.
"He went down and I jumped on him. I wanted to get him out early becasue we don't get paid by the hour," said Brown.
Brown-Faber II is one of the most anticpated mixed martial arts fights of the year. Organizers are expecting a sellout at ARCO Arena. The fighters hope the bout will live up to the hype.
"He beat me, and now it is time for me to beat him and that's what I plan on doing," said Faber.
"I anticipate both of us going to the hospital" joked Brown. "Getting stitched up and getting x-rayed, that's what should happen when two good guys go at it."
The fight will be televised live on the Versus channel.
