My point is that although for most of the users of the new Xbox, none of the security measures and restrictions will have any impact for them, but for some it will.

What Microsoft and some publishers are trying to do is plain wrong, whether it affects you or not.

You should be able to
  • Swap games
  • Rent games
  • Trade games
  • Play without internet
  • Play without Kinect
  • Not have potentially 's worth in game titles made unplayable because you've been banned.

In my opinion buying and agreeing to this crap is like saying 'Hey, I'm fine with what you guys are doing'. Even the most hardened Xbox fan with lots of money and great internet connection can understand that some people are not so fortunate, in terms of internet connections, money or both.

If the Xbox one was to win this console war then a precedent would be set for the future of gaming, and honestly I don't agree with Microsoft and Co's vision for it.

I was on the fence about which to buy before E3. But now its clear, I'll buy a PS4 - hell I'll even buy a nintendo before a Xbone and I vowed never to buy another nintendo again after the Wii. My decision is based on moral stance not a technical one. Frankly, Micro$oft can take their DRM system and shove it up their arse, and I say that on behalf of the people who don't have a great internet connection, the people who don't have a lot of money and the people who believe in fair trading.
Thats what i was talking about about the not understanding part, its going to be the same on the PS4

they are just hiding behind the publishers, they are saying they are not going to restrict use games but they are going to leave it up to the publishers....which demand the restrictions on used games.. So use games will be restricted on the PS4 also

at least microsoft is being honest about it

Well no because, the games are tied to your Xbox live account with Xbox - Restriction of games comes as standard with the Xbone

PS4 will likely operate how some PC titles will work. When you transfer a game to another person you also transfer everything tied to the serial number of that game, characters, achievements ect. On the PC this can actually make some games increase in value... My Age of Conan account was worth 300 at one point.

Some companies will, as you said try to lock games in to individual users, you can guaran'f**king'tee EA will be one of these companies. But a lot of companies won't try to screw customers over.

Edit: In Fact the the PS4's policy is exactly the same as the PS3's used game policy, so when it comes to locking games to accounts you can form an opinion from that. From what I understand, it was never a problem on the PS3

just wait and see, from what i have been hearing the publishers are pushing really hard to do away with/limit used game sales mor so then ever. and with ps4 saying we are leaving everything up to the publishers, im guessing thats what you are gunna get.

everyone thinks its just gunna be ps4 allowing all free games and microsoft saying screw you customers, when really what im seeing is one being honest and one hiding. Now Hiding is proving to be the better choice in this scenerio. but the back lash when people find out its not as black and white as they thought is gunna be interesting.

Hiding from what? From what I've seen they've laid their cards out on the table.

It's not like they are selling themselves short or need to lie in order to sell a console.

The DRM that Microsoft are implementing is insane, they don't need to do it and by doing they have damaged their reputation. To a lesser extent some the DRM features on the Xbone have already been done on the PC - see Sim City and AC3, google it and have a look see what the customers think of it. The information is there... customers do not want it, it sucks; and Microsoft are actually taking these measures a step further.

What Sony have done is actually listened to customers and watched the feedback (or backlash) when it comes to DRM.

Good for Sony, they've hit the ball (Microsoft) out of the park.

Sony said that its up to the publishers like it is now. They said they can lock online content behind an online pass that already happens now. They also said sharing games is as easy as handing a game to a friend and telling them to have fun.

They really are trying their damnedest to fail. Its the only explanation for this. Instead of un****ing themselves they are digging an even deeper hole for their brand. Its like if they fail they'll get some sort of tax break or something.

The only thing publishers can do is online passes as they have been doing the last few years. Games on the PS4 will be no more restrictive than they are right now on current gen consoles. There's 0 DRM built into the PS4 console, which means the only thing publishers can do is the very thing they are doing right now, adding passes for things like multilayer. To be honest, after the gigantic backlash MS has received I'd be surprised if you even found online passes on next gen games for PS4, EA has already got rid of them for their games.

As for "hiding", MS has built their entire console's infrastructure to restrict used games, Sony did not. Their console has 0 DRM, they built the console to play as many rented/used games as one pleases.

Nintendo has no DRM, Sony has no DRM, it's only MS pulling this nonsense and you can bet they will regret doing it if they aren't already.

Ever seen Brewsters Millions with Richard Pryor? He inherits a fortune but his uncle puts a condition on it... he has to spend 30 million in 30 days in order to inherit 300 million, but it has all kinds of crazy restrictions like he cant give it charity, can't buy the same type of thing more than once and limits the amount he can spend one item ect. If he doesn't spend it in 30 days he gets nothing.

I think the same thing is happening with MS but in reverse... Uncle Apple Inc says make a console that can't make 30 million in 30 days to get a 30 billion reward.

I can just image Richard Pryor sitting at his CEO desk at MS panicking because the hardcore xbox fan boys are still buying the system, despite his best efforts to make it the most undesirable piece of shit since the Atari Jaguar.

Richard Pryor - RIP

I'd pay to see that movie.

You guys might find this interview to be interesting. The guy being interviewed is Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson), Director of Programming for the Microsoft gaming network Xbox Live. He's apparently addressing the concerns people have of the Xbox One. Although it looks like he is getting up in the interviewers face half the time.
