EPIC FAIL: Xbox One

We talked alot about this in the "What Games are you Playing" thread but I think this particular subject needs its own thread. The more I think about this the more pissed off I get because I was a loyal Xbox owner for at least 8 to 9 years. Because apparently the new Xbox isn't about just putting a disc in the console and playing a good game. It has a lot of bullshit restrictions that prevents it from doing that. Restrictions like...
(list came from http://angryjoeshow.com)
-24 hour DRM.
-1 hour DRM if you bring your game to a friends house.
-Mandatory Kinect.
-No renting, no loaning. No private sales (unless selling to someone who has been on your friends list for 30 days)
-Broadband Internet connection required.
-Trade-ins are up to the publisher and only at “participating” retailers.

Only Pro's are this...
+You can give a game to a friend only if they have been on your friends list for 30 days, and then only ONCE.
+Up to 10 family members can play your games from any console at any time? You & one other at a time.

Its like Microsoft board members gathered one day and said "hey, are customers are happy and were making too much money. How do we turn things around?":sign04:

This looks like the beginning of the end for Xbox. At least I'm not getting it anyways. Can't imagine too many people buying it as well.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this abortion to the gaming culture and how will it effect the gaming culture in the future?

I'd like to add that it's not a pro that you can give a game to ONLY one friend and that the friend has to be on your friends list for 30 days, that is a complete negative.

I don't think this will affect the gaming culture in the future because MS is the only one doing this. Sony isn't, PC gaming isn't changing any, Nintendo isn't - MS just ruined their own product and gaming will continue as it has been for the last 7 years or so.

I'm glad I have stayed neutral when it comes to consoles (I have a 360/PS3/Wii/Wii U, no bias anywhere) so I don't feel any extra frustration that I might have had I only been a MS customer.

Yeah this is complete bollocks. I loved the 360 and hated PS3, but looks like PS4 got a customer. They just shot themselves on their foot with this one. I hope someone learns to crack the new xbox like they did with the dreamcast and put MS into an early grave.

I like how one pro is this

"You can give a game to a friend only if they have been on your friends list for 30 days, and then only ONCE."

Something you have been able to do unlimited for years, Its just MS fixing a problem they created.

Also... my internet packed in today, only for like... 15 mins, not really a huge problem. But say it goes out for an hour.. I start playing my game and the 24 hours is up and it cannot do its DRM check...am i just booted out of my game right there and then?

Why did you hate the ps3? I had both for a while but havent replaced the ps3 since it packed it. 360 was much better early but i found the PS3 has really come on strong late in the cycle... Im thinking of buying a new one soon.

Your console will not play games if it does not pass the 24 hour check, so most likely it will pop up and say you are not connected and then end the session until you can connect again.

im just glad this is finally happening since xbox has always sucked and now its gonna be back to a two horse race between two good and real game creators in nintendo and playstation.

I loved both the Xbox and the Xbox 360 but this xbox one, man I can not see any benefits to buying it over the PS4.

Never thought I'd make the switch back to Playstation but Microsoft have made it impossible to stay with them.

Did you guys see this?

and that really means nothing going forward to MS....

I have a shit load of 360 games... Backwards compatibility would of at least made the upgrade seem like a better idea. Its another reason to switch to playstation, since you will be starting the scratch no matter what.

At this point all Sony seem to be saying is "At least we are not doing that" They are getting plus points for not screwing us over, because none of this was ever an issue before.

I have a friend who is getting the Xbox One because it 'sounds better than the PS4'. I think he may be a little bit slow.
