Kojima to make Metal Gear: Silent Hill?

If their is one thing Silent Hill: Downpour taught me its that the Silent Hill franchise needs to be put out of its misery. Downpour is a prime example of how low this franchise has fallen based on piss poor story telling, bad controls, bland monster designs, and unlikable characters. This game was shit.

Instead of pulling the plug on Silent Hill, Konami decided to hand it over to Hideo Kojima, who is known for his work on Metal Gear Series.

So the next Silent Hill will be an open world horror game that will run on the Fox Engine, the same engine that was used in Ground Zeros and will be used in Phantom Pain. So that pretty much guarantees Silent Hill will have crisp graphics and buttery smooth frame rates. However will Kojima be able to offer us a good Silent Hill game? Meaning will it actually emphasize horror and psychological terror or will be an action fest like Resident Evil 6?

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

I'd be down with it. The last Silent Hill I played was Silent Hill: Memories on Wii. It was a really, really good game. No clue how the others have been lately, though. In fact now that this thread has made me think about it, I might pick up Memories and play it on my Wii U.

I thought downpour was a step up from Origins and Homecoming. Bad controls? I thought silent hill was meant to have bad controls.

Silent Hill has always been one of the most misunderstood video game franchises. The controls have always been intentionally bad and the storytelling has always been... more on the "What the hell is that all about?" side. You're not supposed to get it right away, that's the whole point. Take that away and you have a generic zombie/monster slasher with some puzzles.

Rookie Hammer Squad 2015

But that's the thing I didn't get the storytelling at all at the end of Downpour. Did you learn anything about the protagonist in Downpour's multiple endings. Can you watch those multiple endings from Downpour and tell me that everything came together or if we learned anything about Murphy Pendleton? Can you even describe any of the side characters personalities in Downpur? Also, the controls for this game didn't enhance my fear but only served to test my patience. Between accidentally using a heath packs and throwing my fire axe into a ditch because I nudged a button a little bit only served to piss me off. It sure as hell didn't give me the feeling that this game was unique from all the other horror slashers.

Deadly Premonition on the other hand did a lot better job with its bad controls and balls off the wall story telling. Where Downpour was one of those generic zombie game with some puzzles, like you mentioned above, Deadly Premonition was a unique experience. In fact, I feel like playing Deadly Premonition right now.

I'd love to see the first 2 ps1 silent hills remade. Had great fun with those back in the day. Don't know how I feel about this news though. I loved re4 but it was a big genre shift, hope this woulnt go that way.

I like MMA less because of this forum

If Kojima is making a Silent Hill game I wonder if he is going to put any stealth mechanics in this. Could you imagine doing something like this in a Silent Hill game...
That would be freaking awesome.

Deadly Premonition = one of my favorite games of all time. Not this gen, not in the last 10 years - OF.ALL.TIME. The game is freaking amazing. If you get it get the director's cut PS3 version.
