And have it be on-line so you fight other players, with a ranking system that would be cool.

but, how are they gonna do this?

there a billion different variables involved in mma. how on earth are they gonna make it realistic???

there are a billion different submissions and a billion different ways to do them in a billion different situations.

how are they gonna incorporated such complexity and realism? what buttons do you push to get the move you want? there are a trillion different moves, so how's that gonna work with only the 5-6(?) buttons that consoles have on their controllers.

what are you gonna press to get a submission or a clinch? up down left right 1/2 counterclockwise a+b?

to actually make it a realistic game is very unlikely in my opinion.
lol, i was JUST about to say that after my post...

your absolutely right, it's pretty tough to do, you obviously couldn't do everything.

in mma, there are flying knee's, jabs, left hooks, overhand rights, right crosses, muay thai clinches, body locks, double leg takedowns, leg trips, sweeps of the ground, triangles, RNC's, armbars, mounts, GnP, putting hooks in, footwork, head kicks, leg kicks, body kicks, foot stomps,...

lol..gogoblata's...can't forget those!

and probably about another hundred million moves if you truly encorporate all of mma

tough to say which ones should get the most focus..

you could have specialty moves, like GSP's spinning back kick, cro cop's LHK, Rampage's slams...

damn, i want the game....plz figure out a way to pack it all in

Did you ever play the Pride FC game on PS2. It did all of what you are asking quite well in my opinion.

You say there are a billion different submissions, a billion different variables etc etc. Just remember that this is a video game....Liddell isn't likely to be programmed up to perform Triangle chokes, much the same as Gracie won't be programmed up to perform One Punch K.O.'S or superman punches. Like any video game each character will have strengths and weaknesses.

With todays technology it is entirely possible if you ask me.

nope, never played the pride fc game.

if they choose to go the street fighter or mortal kombat route where you select your characters and press a few buttons to do some cheesy special move (ie. like a fireball in street fighter), then then it CAN be done, but it won't be realistic at all.

if they go the start-your-own-career and train yourself route, it'll be even harder.

the game can't be done realistically. it's not possible with today's controllers.

the only way i can see it being done is attaching a few hundred wires and nodes on your body with you doing the moves in real life a la the wii, but that's not feasible at all.

it can't be done.

My friend and I have actually been discussing the upcoming game for a while now, and we think that if they used the same analog system that Fight Night uses for striking (I assume everyone knows that basic idea) then that would free up the face and shoulder buttons to be used in conjunction with the analog stick for modifiers on the feet (flying knees, superman punches, etc) and then on the ground the game obviously gets trickier to make, because there's no really good precedent, but we were thinking that the analog stick could still be used for strikes, and face buttons could be used for subs, and the shoulder buttons for passing.

Given the processing ability of the next gen systems, it is quite possible that they could include all the positions and transitions necessary to make this an excellent game. Plus, they could throw in ridiculous graphics with cuts, swelling and whatnot. Basically, my expectations for this game are through the roof, and I'm pretty sure no matter how good it ends up being, I'm going to be disappointed, which sucks.
