He has some good points but other points I don't agree with
as this guy is making it out to be. I never really played Final Fantasy because I own an X-Box. I'd like to get a Playstation though but I don't have a dime to my name! But anyways this guy spent 5 parts of this review blasting Final Fantasy 8 and then in part 6he moved on to blasting creepy fanboys (one's who create freaky anime porn) Final Fantasy 7 had create.
So my question: Is Final Fantasy 8 this bad or is this guy full of it?

In comparison to the other Final Fantasy games, I would have to say that it definitely sucks. If you can tie yourself up in the story, it probably won't matter. However, this one did not have the same type of polish gameplay-wise as others in the series. I have to be specific about the gameplay, because (in its time) it is definitely a quality title from a Graphical and Audio standpoint.
The draw system killed it for me. All the other Final Fantasy games were pretty inutitive and easy to use as far as features went, but if you didn't want to pay attention to eash and every little detail you could get by pretty well. HOwever, when it became obvious I couldn't beat a boss because I forgot to "draw" an ability out of an obscure enemy 6 dungeons back it killed it for me. They didn't think that part through, and as a result, the gameplay felt incomplete and experimental.
But that's my take on it.

Final Fantasy 7 and 8 are 2 of the best rpg games you will ever play, the graphics for 7 stink cuz it was one of the first games out for playstation 1 but the gameplay and storyline are awesome. Read some reviews final fantasy 7 usually gets about 9.5/10 and ff8 gets 8.5 and higher. Final fantasy 8 is definately harder and junctioning magic and stuff is a little tedious, the final bosses are very hard I could get to the very last boss but I could not beat it without cheats. The storyline for 8 is awesome as well. This game takes alot of committment and you will spend hours and hours on it but if you get into it it will just suck you in.
First off, it takes a while to beat sure but it doesn't take absurdly long. If an RPG got over like 45 or 50 hours then I'd start to get pissed but up to that point, as long as the story is a good and compelling one, it's worth it. RPGs take considerably longer to beat than other games because they dont have as much replay value, unless youre a diehard who wants to go through it all again just to see what you missed. I love RPGs, but Im not like that, once through with one, I wont play it again until i've basically forgotten it. The story and characters of ff8 are very compelling. I don't remember exactly how long it took me to beat FF8, but I'd say like most of the Final Fantasy games it was 30 - 40 hours, which for this type of game is not outrageous.
As for the gameplay, there's a couple things to keep in mind. The junctioning and allocating magic system is a good one, but it's a little bit of a bitch to learn, and you HAVE to learn it. The thing about this game that makes micromanaging your characters well so important is that unlike other Final Fantasys, the enemies level up as your guys level up. In FF7, if you couldn't beat a boss, you could just go back fight a bunch of scrubs level your characters up and then go beat the boss. In FF8 every time you level up so does that boss. So bottom line there, learn the system and use it. Long as you know your shit and you play smart this game's challenging but not TOO challenging. Flip side of the coin is that youre never gonna run into an enemy that just kicks your ass cuz you havent leveled up enough, which is something that happens often in many RPGs.
FF8 has the best mini-game of any RPG ever. You can play the card game throughout FF8 against all kinds of different people. Get badass cards from people and they pay off in battle too.
That's all, very good game, here's my hierarchy of Final Fantasy games
what are people on about, it was an awesome finaly fantasy! I rank it below ff7 which is my number one
