I'm really disappointed with how they've constructed the striking in this game. The "spin the analog stick as fast as you can" routine is the exact same thing used to counter all grappling moves in the old UFC/PRIDE games, and is just weak on the developer's part.

I was really excited for this game, but the more I've learned actual details about it, the more disappointed I can already feel myself becoming. Sure, the graphics are going to be great. But striking is essentially going to be the same as the old games, defensive grappling is going to be pretty much the same as the old games, and offensive grappling is the only thing that has changed significantly in terms of gameplay. It'll be interesting to see how they work in the initation of clinching/takedowns, but I can't say I'm optimistic at this point. I'd be semi-shocked if Triangle + Circle and Square + X weren't how takedowns work.

Seriously, two plus years in development and this is the best they could come up with? I could eat a box of Alpha Bits and crap better code than this.
Completely agree man, I want this game to be good soo badly but the more I hear about it the more disappointed I think I'm gonna be with it.

It's just silly things like using buttons for striking instead of the analog stick, do people learn nothing from fight night? Rotating the stick as fast as you can to eascape/lock on subs is just ridiculous as is just pressing down the right stick to attempt a submission, I wanna choose what sub I go for not just press a button and let the game do it for me.

The game could have been made fun for the general public but still be interesting to more knowledgable fans of the sport. I really, really hate to say this but I think it could just end up being a WWE game with a UFC sticker on it.

TBH after reading that I think I'm looking forward to Fight Night Round 4 just as much if not more than this which is a shame cos this game could have been great.

I think this has promise I have no problem with pushing buttons to strike, I get what you are saying about the subs but to be fair if you have an opponents back you will hardly try for a heel hook. Bring on May 29th, I'm think of taking along weekend off work for that.

Thanks to Plazz for the awesome sig

Wow, those previews look awesome. Marcus Davis is off though, looks nothing like him.

The game will be fun but not all that great for hardcore fans expectations. I think the next year's version will hopefully show huge improvements but im really excited for the game still.

Yeah, this game puts me in a weird position, because no matter how bad it turns out, I'm going to play it and enjoy it. But I know it could be amazing if they tried to make the gameplay a little better.

They know that pretty much every hardcore fan is going to buy the game no matter how it ends up though, so there's really no incentive to make it as great as it could be.

I think this is the way with a lot of things TBH. The hardcore fan is gonna be there through thick and thin whereas the new or casual fans won't. I think they'll end up trying too hard to make it "fun" and "interesting" for casual fans that we're gonna be forgotten about.

I just know it's gonna piss me of when this game comes out cos it could been soooo good and I know it's gonna let me down.
