Does that work better than mashing the buttons?

I can't do the stick spin my hand is to big for the controllers.

So I just tap X O square and triangle as fast as I can. Yesterday I was playing on advanced I had Chuck beaten so bad that everytime I kicked him in the stomach he would go into rocked mode then drop to the ground. Then I would go into his guard he would recover. Then I would punch him in the stomach he would get rocked again and id go for the sub, guess what? No way it's nearly impossible as far as im concered.

I did this like three times and the last try there was 17 seconds left when I went for the armbar. I thought it might give it to me since the match was so close to be over because KOs do that, but nope.

I just hope that in the full game subs will be beter maybe Liddell/Rua is just a bad match up. I WANT TO SUB EVERYONE WITH MIR.

Yes, rotate for the sub works better than mashing (at least for Rua).

Yup, mashing the buttons is the "un-technical" way to do it, which works better for Chuck, while rotating the analog stick is the "technical" way, which works better for Shogun.

Didn't you guys watch the tutorial? Duhh.

Haha, this is true. Chuck probably doesn't have a very high submission rating. I do play with Shogun but maybe i need to focus my sub attempts on those times.

Eitherway, hopefully they balance them just right. It would suck to have them be too effective given that they are as easy as one button when you are in position.

The button mashing escape works better for fighters with high strength. It's called a brute force escape, so if you're a better masher than a rotater stick with strikers.

Well ive played as Shogun a lot, and have focus on just getting a sub, and all has fail (against expert). But the positive thing is against other humans subs work a lot easier, so whenever were playing against each other its not impossible to pull a submission. I know this because me and some friends all been playing together and pull submissions against each other all the time.

Yeah, I can second this as I've always failed to sub against the computer, but did it constantly against friends.

I haven't really tried too many subs on the computer. I've also been playing on expert and usually just win via ground and pound from the mount, but one thing I have noticed is that submissions become more viable the lower your opponents stamina is.

There are hidden damage gauges in this game, you can actually inflict damage to certain points of the body. When you've hurt a specific area of the body it's often times, from what I can see, much easier to sub someone there. Learn which submission your character tries from each position.

Often times when I have scored submissions it'll be me choosing to end the fight with a sub instead of pounding them out when I'm already on top of them and they're rocked. I've never had it not work.

Problem with rocking them in stand-up and then running over to them and trying a sub is that it could be difficult to get to them before they recover.
