Are the refs as bad in the full game as in the demo?

I unfortunately don't have the game, so I've had to settle with the demo (which is still a lot of fun, though). One thing I've seen in the demo is how slow the refs are to stop fights. I've seen my opponent tap for around 5 seconds before the ref stops it. During ground and pound, I've been able to throw 5-8 punches after my opponent's already been knocked out. Are the refs quicker to stop fights in the full game? It's pretty funny in the demo...

My only problem with the refs is how huge they all are. Does Big John not ref anymore fights for the UFC? Never heard anything but never see him anymore.

They are a little slow to stop fights and pretty quick to stand up people in my opinion. for instance if im on my back and a guy is over me kicking at me ive been stood up. Which is good for me but not how it should be... Technically we are engaged in combat.

He might have a glitchy demo, I've never gotten more than a punch or two in after the inevitable mouthpiece flies away. I got mad at Herb the other day, though, cause I was forced to stand with a guy that I was raining down hammer fists on. Wasting precious stamina, ya know?

yea the refs piss me off all the time. They are so quick to stand people up when u are on the ground. Especially when your standing above them raining down punches. Ive even rocked a guy like that and they have stood us up. I still knocked him out, but it gave him a few extra seconds lol.

I've rarely been stood up by the refs unless I was just sitting in guard-down slapping the guy with punches. If you are advancing your position every few seconds then you can keep the fight on the ground for the entire round.

My only problem, like Whitehorizon said, is that the refs are freaking huge. Mario Yamasaki is almost as tall as my 6'7" CAF, he looks like a goddamned giant.

HAHA, in my fight for the MMAforum tourny, Steve got in between me and kilik, right when Kilik threw a vicious body kick. They gave the damage to me I guess, but it looked like Kilik kicked Mazz square in the spine. It was awesome.
