I'm starting to really hate this game

Yes folks, there is one specific part of the game that, for me, ruins the whole ******* experience: submissions.

I have read everything about subs, but I can't get one, and I get submitted very easily. And that's playing the computer.

Just to say, that previously on my career, I had been submitted with a RNC by guys like Chuck Liddell or Rashad Evans (who, btw, hasn't even attempted a submission IRL, and has 52 in submission offense). Evans submitted me after a reversal of a clinch judo toss. I had full (or almost full) stamina, and 70 submission defense, playing on experienced. That has happened with other fighters that are not submission specialist and with lower sub offense than my sub defense.

I can't submit anyone (well, I got one submission in my whole career, one out of 27 wins). Today I read the faq on gamefaqs, I read about the hard way, and the easy way. The easy ways is to perform a submission after you rock an opponent and are on a dominant position.

Well, I had mounted Rashad (on advanced), rocked him, he was gassed, no stamina left. My toon has 70 sub offense, not much, but in these conditions, I should get it, right?.

Wrong. He escaped, reversed my transition, go the mount, and KOed my with one punch.

I know all the theory. I have trying hitting the buttons, twisting the stick, faster or slower. It doesn't matter. I get submitted (not that much now with sub defense at 85, though, but still some subs with guys with 50s is ridiculous).

I had been 3 days without playing the game, and after today, I will play even less.

I still haven't received my original game that I paid for 2 weeks ago, so that's even worse, cause I can't play the league or any person for that matter.

I just needed to let it out.

I have only gotten 2 or 3 subs ever on the computer, from day one of the demo to today, and I play a lot. However, I love the game, wish I was playing it right now. Maybe they'll work on that stuff in future games, but subs are almost too easy against people if you wait for their stuff to drain. Damn it, don't get home til 1, or I'd be playing now, (stupid job frowns on me bringing my ps3).

i get subs all day, what is your technique? spinning or smashing? are you trying to escape with a guy with good ground defense by smashing buttons? and a strong guy by spinning the stick?

gotta say, i love subs. i'm one of those cats who used to ring everyone out in the old 3d fighting games... and laugh and laugh at them as they'd get all worked up. Subs are a natural progression from that for me.

i rotate for subs, and escapes. with pretty good success.

practice on easy til you get the submissions down.. Or try playing "two player" just don't have anyone else on the second player and practice.

I have no problem pulling submissions off, I have somewhat of a formula I follow to get to them. I spend most of the time chipping away at the opponent's stamina, using -> Kicks to interrupt their attack at times. I switch up between the legs and body, going for the occasional headkick whenever it presents itself.

Then I start to go for clinchs, counter grapples, and takedowns until I finally get them down. From there I wait until they try to advance their position (at this point their stamina is far below mine) and go for the submission from either side control or back mount.

I don't ever go for guard or half-guard submissions, they just aren't worth it. RNC's, Guillotines, and Kimura's are the easiest for me to pull off. With this formula I submitted Frank Mir, BJ Penn, Demian Maia, and GSP

That sounds like what I do. Submissions aren't that hard just make sure they are tired and wore out. I prefer to submit. Triangle from rubber guard for the win:thumb02:

I sub the same amount as I do KO. A few people have made topics like this and I'll say the same thing I did then : Man up, and spin that damn right stick clockwise with your palm until the skin falls off. I've had TWO injuries now, but its worth it.

Subs are easier as you wear your opponent down. I fight tons of guys that will mash head kicks and punches while i block. Then it's an easy takedown and a sub in less then a minute. What i hate about this game are guys that make there gus 6'6'' so there reach is maxed.

Whitehorizon 06-06-2009 04:50 PM

I have fought so many 6'6" CAFs against my 5 11 CAF. Won some lost some.. It is aggravating seeing a 6 inch reach difference.

The other thing to remember about submissions, your competing with your opponent when you spin the stick. So maybe you are spinning slower than everyone you have faced? I have had an easy time with some and a hard time with others. Even when they were using the same fighter. When I have problems with the stick I try mashing the buttons and it has worked for me.
