helicopters are a joke and if you see them as a problem that just shows your skill in this particular game. Helicopters in our game never even reach the battlefield.

there are huge skill gaps in cod but if all you do is talk in a particular game forum of play a particular series you would not know that.

everytime i play a series for a long period of time i start to get blinded fanboyism where i think its the game that takes the most skill and all around best game, did it when i used to pay quake, did it again when i played halo and cod then i realized that unless i play all the games in a hardcore nature for a period of time i cant talk the one is te best ect.

in cod you have to realize also that different game types there are different skill gapes, games types with objectives imo have a bigger skill gaps but again thats imo probably cause all i play anymore on cod is S&D
The fact is that there COD takes less to actually be good at it. Using BF3 as an example.

Lining up the reticule and firing at the person nets you a kill in COD regardless of where you are.
BF3 requires you to account for distance and bullet drop.

Hitting a button and having an automated helicopter in COD.
In BF you have to get your ass in whatever vehicle you want and learn how to use it.

Different classes within BF obviously makes the game more versatile along with the vehicles.

I play COD from time to time and I don't hate it at all, but the skill gap in COD in comparison to other games is a huge difference.

The skill gap is incredibly low in cod, that's why no major e-sport promotions use the game for competitive play. Because competitively, the game is a joke.

The kill times are too quick - turning games into a who see's who first wins type gameplay
It's ridiculously easy to aim
Iron sights instead of effective hip firing which limits movement
Cluster****ed maps
Amongst a plethora of other issues which hinder it's competitive merit

I don't limit myself to a certain couple of games either, I've pretty much played all of the major competitive online FPS games.

Quake
Cs
Unreal
Warsow
Painkiller
Day of Defeat
Tribes
Return to castle wolfenstein
Halo series

I've been gaming online for years and have played all of those games extensively. It takes around two weeks of solid play to become a good player in call of duty, it's that easy to get good at the game.

On the other hand, I've been playing a game like Quake on and off for years now and still I can get 15-0'd or worse by players in the game. The skill gap is tremendously high for arena fps shooters.

From a purely competitive standpoint, the call of duty franchise is right at the bottom of the list, that's why it's never played in any major tournaments and is laughed upon by the majority of competitive gamers.

I play COD because I enjoy it. I think if it was full of pro gamers and people who take games to seriously I'm pretty sure I would not play it.

Ok, well that makes more sense. Some of us are old enough to remember the original Quake

But still, Q3 is ancient too (I think I first played the demo in like... 1998 maybe?), and is a twitch FPS that makes it difficult to compare to the more complicated FPS with classes and unlocks and loadouts. Never have played Quake Live, but I assume it's not a lot different. Yeah, the purity of it makes it more appealing for competitive play, but it doesnt make it a better game imo. Just different.

I played a little Quake 2, but not the original.

Quake Live is pretty much a direct port of Q3, yea. Crazy that you can actually play Q3 in your internet browser for free. The graphics can actually look pretty nice maxed out too.

For different load outs and classes designed for top notch dynamic team play there is return to castle wolfenstein, tribs and team fortress 2.

Rome: Total War is on sale for 1$/€ on Steam tonight. 90% off it's original price. If you don't own it I would highly recommend that you pick it up.

Grand Theft Auto III just came out on PS3, so I'm playing the hell out of that and having some great flashbacks to 2003 or so, when I played it the first time.

But here's a game that I'd recommend to anyone who is into paper rpgs. It's a lot of fun and FREE. Still in beta, but the full version is expected next year. I backed their kick starter which ended last week.

A lot of fun when you get a good party together. I've played games with guys from Brazil, Europe, the States, and all over, which is pretty cool.

I played GTA 3 to death. Was an awesome game though.

Into Borderlands 2 and Fifa 13. Really enjoying both.

Managing Dortmund, sold Lewandowski, bought Balotelli and Sakho. Just won my first Bundesliga and Deutscher Pokal, got to semis in Champions League. Balotelli was Golden Boot winner, Bundesliga and German Cup player of the Year, German Cup and top goal scorer in Bundesliga.
