I remember having played three different characters in that game (there were more but I mostly played these three) and they all had over 100h of played time. Definitely one of the best games ever made. Oblivion doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence although it's a great game too.

Oblivion looked better than Morrowind of course, but waaaay too console-ized. I didn't even really enjoy it much until I got mods installed to fix the awful interface.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

I actually found Morrowind less fun than Oblivion.

The lack of fast travel, the extremely slow run speed and how it drains energy to run, pretty bad magic system, I don't like the hit or miss dice roll style of combat, etc.

TES is one of my favorite series of games and Morrowind is pretty great, don't get me wrong, but I like Oblivion better because of all the improvements to combat/travel, and stuff like voice acting and all that which just bumped it up from Morrowind.

That's interesting because that's exactly what I didn't like in Oblivion. The fast travel is just... I don't know. Obviously I used it because I didn't want to walk everywhere but that way I really didn't find that many side quests and I really wasn't able to do see the world much. I just kinda went along with the main story (which was really, really short in comparison to Morrowind) and then I didn't have much opportunity/motivation to do anything else. The combat system is much better however but in total I missed all the things you could do in TES3 and couldn't do in Oblivion.

Well, the way I played it (Oblivion) was to kill an innocent to get TDB guild quests going, then mage/fighter/theif guild quests going. These quests very often made you go to places out in the wilderness, and you can't fast travel unless you uncover it. I'd use these quests as opportunities to adventure out and go off the path and find new quests/places.

Plus, it's optional. You don't have to use it.

I agree that Morrowind has some things I wish were in Oblivion, like vampire "guild" so that you had more to do when you turn into a vampire than just be annoyed at the sun. None that to me personally overtake all the positives Oblivion brought to the series, though.

I love Morrowind but that game drove me nuts. I remember when I had to deliver some weapons to miners in an obscure cave in the middle of the dessert I would get freakin lost. I ended up going around in circles until I finally cracked and looked it up on the internet. It wouldn't show up on your map or anything. The guildmaster would just say go far east. Thanks, Magellan.

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

The leveling of the enemies in Oblivion blew it for me. You would work your tits off to get hold of an awesome weapon, not yet seen in the game. You get to the right level. You get excited at the prospect. As soon as you venture out, all the bandits have the same damn weapon! Same with armour. By the time you get near the end, all the bandits have the highest level amour and weapons just like you. Hows that make any sense?? For me, an RPG needs that feeling of returning to areas that previously kicked your ass, and being able to slaughter everything with ease.

Silly game. If Skrim is like this, I will be mighty pissed.

Skyrim levels like Fallout 3 for the most part, with a few tweaks.

The outside world levels as you level (there are a few places that you cannot go at level 1, but not too many) - it must be like this when having a game where you can go anywhere/do anything. If you had to stay in X Y and Z areas as you aren't strong enough, then that would defeat the purpose of go anywhere/do anything.

Dungeons, however, lock at pre-determined levels. You enter a level 30 dungeon at level 5, that dungeon locks itself at level 30, and while you level up, that dungeon stays the same. If you enter that same dungeon (for the first time) at level 30, that dungeon will be like a level 50 dungeon, then will lock at level 50 for you to come back to. Many dungeons are low level, of course, so lots to explore at the start and you don't have to come back at a later date to do a lot of them.

As for gear, gear doesn't level anymore, they took that out. Bandits will wear leather armor when you're level 1 as they will when you're level 50. They removed that whole leveling gear feature.
