I have a real strong urge to replay Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, and Final Fantasy 7. Some of my favorite games from my childhood.

I never got to play chrono cross but if its anything like trigger which i only just played for the first time then I gotta give it a try. There's a shiteload of good games from the 90s and 80s and early 2000's and that isn't nostalgia talking.

Cross is almost nothing like Trigger and the stories barely tie into each other at all. A lot of people hated CC because of this, but it remains one of my favorite games of all time.

My only real complaint is that it is so damn easy. Only 2 or three of about 50 bosses are challenging at all.

Oh well if it's too easy I may take a pass unless it so happens to land on my radar on ebay or something. The real rpg type game is almost extinct these days isn't it. I know it probably wouldn't gain much money because of all the new generation dismissing anything without realistic graphics but I wouldn't mind companies releasing 16 bit games again even if the games are only metroids and megamans and rpgs

I played Cross for the first time a few weeks ago, it's fun. I agree the combat is too easy and I'm not a big fan of the leveling system, but it's good.

I would kill for a new turn-based RPG like square made back in the day. I remember thinking that with new mediums like Steam we might see a revival, but I haven't really looked into it. Anybody familiar with Steam know of any old-school RPGs worth checking out?

If you want probably the best JRPG this gen that plays very similar to old school rpg games (open world map, towns, villages, dungeons, side quests, 3 person party system, etc) then I would highly recommend Ni No Kuni. the battle system is different than the old FF games but it's pretty deep and unique, you'd have to look at it. It's quite honestly the best JRPG this entire generation outside of maybe Xenoblade Chronicles, and is probably my favorite PS3 exclusive game this gen.

The only thing that keeps people back from playing the game is the art style and the fact that you play as a 13 year old light hearted boy instead of a 17 year old emo teen. You just have to watch a trailer on it to see if you'd be okay with it or not. The game itself is brilliant.

I put in Mortal Kombat 9 and I reminded myself why I found this game to be frustrating to no end. Shao Kahn is a cheating whore. You can't set up decent kombo against him because he somehow reflects it and hits you with that ******* hammer. He takes minimal damages while he can take half of your energy in mere seconds. How the hell did I ever beat this game?

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam
