What annoys me is that these people who drooled at the mouth about how Eliz/Ellie interacted with the player and were "more" than just a random companion, don't understand that Enslaved did that whole concept just as well if not better, but got almost no media hype because it wasn't made from Naughty Dog or the guys who make Bioshock.
I had people telling me how bad/weird it would be to escort someone the whole game, and when I explained that no you don't "escort" her, she helps you in combat and can help do this and that, and she isn't completely helpless, they were just like "meh". But the moment the guys from Bioshock mention it or Naughty Dog, oh, well, what a brilliant idea! It frustrates me greatly that small companies/games don't get any hype and die off when they do things better than what big companies do (and do them first), all because people don't go out of their way to check these kind of games/projects and just wait for whatever rehash or game mechanic big companies steal off of smaller ones and pretend they are innovating.
As for what I'm playing, still Overlord 2 and Pikmin 3 shipped yesterday finally.
I love buddy-buddy adventures (I have no idea what to call them haha) where two strangers meet somehow, go on an adventure, and bond throughout it. No game I've played so far does it better than Enslaved. Not just story wise, but how Trip actually helps you rather than just stay in the background. Ellie wasn't much help throughout the Last of Us but I thought she was a brilliant character story wise so I didn't mind. Elizabeth, as a whole, was a shit character and I have no idea why that game got so much hype.
PS: Looking back, all my favorite games have that buddy-buddy scenario. Nathan/Elena, Joel/Ellie, Monkey/Trip etc. If anyone has good recommendations for that genre, if that's what you can even call it, I'd love to hear them.
I really hope they make a DMC 2. I think the future looks bleak for a sequel since the Devil May Cry purist are up in arms about the reboot.
I'll tell you what if I was Monkey I would be super pissed at Kat right now. I would be even more pissed because there is nothing I could do about it. Poor Monkey. He's on a ride he doesn't want to be on.
Yea I highly doubt a sequel sadly. Sales were terrible and like you said, a lot of the die hard DmC fans hated the new Dante. Hopefully they keep releasing DLC at least.
