And i think im going to pull the trigger on State of decay. A good ol game of shooting zombies and building shelters and beating zombie brains with golf clubs.
I beat it a while back and it is pretty fun. It is indeed (relatively) open world and if you like killing zombies, this will definitely be your cuppa tea. Lot and lots of zombies and it's easy to get swarmed if you're not careful. You get to choose your base and can pick up stakes and move your group if you find a better location. The driving is a little weird, the cars never broke down or ran out of gas, just got more and more damaged looking if you run into something. The group interactions are interesting but get a little repetitive the tenth time you've got to take some whiny bastard out for a stroll to cheer him up. Sometimes you'll be on a mission, almost to your destination, and you'll be randomly notified that one of your group members for some reason wandered off and got trapped somewhere and you'll have to drive halfway across the map again to save their ass or that's it for them.
You can pick up new members and help out smaller independent groups that you find as well (or kill them for their stuff, if you feel like it). Also I remember sometimes things would happen while you weren't playing, like you'd start up the game and someone might have freaked out and left the group while you were gone, that made for an interesting dynamic but it might annoy people who can't play too frequently.
I played it in beta though, so some of this might have been changed.
