So, I got about as far as I feel like for the moment in Wasteland 2. It's definitely still in beta and there are moments where you are reminded of that.
The combat is solidly implemented and works very well. Movement and map stuff works well. Character creation works as it should. You can tell they pinned down these basics first, which is exactly how they should be going about it. There are plenty of maps and plotlines that are essentially complete, lots of gameplay to be had.
However I ran into a number of bugs that got progressively worse as I got past eight hours or so into the game, many related to balance and scripting issues. Also some of the skills are incomplete still, although the most basic ones are fully implemented.
There are some fundamental issues at the moment as well. The trade screen is highly flawed currently and aside from being just clunky (they even have a message at the bottom stating they plan to overhaul it) I had items that I purchased just... not show up in my inventory. Many items don't have a unique icon yet, just a placeholder Sometimes my equipped weapons would disappear into thin air for no discernable reason, prompting a reload from save.
Speaking of which, there's no quick save or load binding meaning you have to go into the menu system to manually save. Small detail, but you have to save pretty frequently as the combat can be unforgiving. The killer for me (and what is making me want to wait a bit to play again) is that an entire village of people turned invisible. They will occassionally say something to me but I can't interact with them and all the quests associated with them are essentially broken now.
It's still in early beta and they are very clear about that, so it's no big deal, I just don't really have the free time to beta test.
Still, it's very promising and if you're into the old Fallout style gameplay and setting, you're probably dig this once it's complete.
Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?
