I exaggerated a bit. They weren't actually terrible games. They put out some good ones but in terms of year after year I always liked Madden more.

Madden was comparable back then, now their games just aren't fun to play. Good graphics, and all that boring crap but I just do not enjoy going through a season anything close like I enjoyed 2K5. Chris Berman at halftime was awesome, the presentation was awesome, the commentary generally seemed like they were watching the game you're playing. I was an EA nuthugger for many years, played Madden and NHL since their inception on Genesis in 91. To be honest, I enjoy Madden 05 and 2K5 more than any recent next-gen Madden. 2K5 tops my list of best NFL game ever though, and funny enough it still sells fairly well to this day according to 2K sports.

That NFL 2K game was awesome! SEGA was genius by starting their brand(the 2K brand) off by selling their quality games about $20 cheaper then the EA counterparts. I think all 2K series games were like $19.99 or $29.99 or something like that and at the time I think EA was around $49.99. Not just for football but for hockey, NBA and baseball. Hell they completely eliminated EA from the NBA game market with such a strong game. NBA 2K series came out the gate amazing.

Back to the NFL 2K. I also loved the halftime with Berman, it was also the first time in a game I saw actual in game footage from your 1st half shown in highlights like a real halftime. I also loved the configuration of the speed, break takle, jump where you could tap rapidly or you could charge it by holding down and pushing the button for a more intense burst. I use to see how many people I could run over in 1 play using TJ Duckett lol. I haven't played Madded in a long time. Maybe 2008?

I don't mind delays really. Hopefully they get it right. The problem with how big the internet has gotten is that developers are fine with releasing broken games these days and just patching it later.

Yeah that's called getting EA'd. EA is the master of releasing a broken game early and just patching it later.

Pretty much every game needs patches these days. BF4 was terribly bugged, Skyrim was terribly bugged, South Park has bugs, Thief has bugs, AC Black Flag has bugs, pretty much every major developer is guilty of it these days.

Which makes me appreciate companies like Nintendo who release complete games to this day and have for a few decades.

While I can see as to why its easier to have Nintendo games have less bugs I do completely agree with your post. Iv held Nintendo in high regard for a long time. They are still out there making games that have the purpose of being fun. And making games that a group of friends or family can all play together. They don't just try to copy other successful games, try to make it look cool, create bunch of CGI trailers that show no gameplay, give it a cool name, and its time to put it on the shelves for people to buy. While I don't think everything Nintendo releases is gold atleast they in my opinion remember what games are supposed to be about.

And I'm not hating on other game companies as I like all kinds of stuff I just am praising Nintendo because they are still about making fun games.
