Now since that's out of the way, I have a question - how do you stream your PS3 footage to your computer monitor? Like, I want to play my PS3 but I want to use my computer monitor instead of my TV. How does one go about doing this?

This one might be better not sure.

And here is a written Tutorial

Quote:
When I first got my PS3 my goal was to run my video through my computer monitor and my audio through my computer speakers. I put together this little guide to help anyone else looking to do the same thing. This saves you from having to go through your TV's audio/video if it's not as nice as your monitor & computer speakers.

Step 1, Video:
Forget the stock RCA component cable, what you really need is an HDMI --> DVI cable. But before you pay $100+ at Best Buy remember that Google is your friend. You can get the same cable online for under $5 is you look hard enough. I ended up going with a higher quality Monster Cable that still came out to only $12 shipped.

PS3 --> HMDI to DVI Cable --> DVI Switch --> DVI Cable --> Monitor

Step 2, Audio:
You'd ideally use HDMI for your audio but not with computer speakers. I used the RCA component cable for the audio (red & white) only. But again, not the stock cable, I used my left over Monster Cable from my PS2. Here's the Monster Cable next to the stock one. BIG difference!

Next you have to figure how to get RCAs male ends of the component cable to connect to the headset jack male end on your computer speakers. I looked through my garage and found a double sided female RCA (for red & white) adapter. Then I bought another wire at Radioshack (for around $8) that was male RCAs --> male headset jack. Then A female/female headset jack adapter. Finally you plug that into your green computer speaker cable. It sounds like a handful but once it's put together you see how it goes.

PS3 --> Component Cable --> Female/Female RCA Adapter --> RCA to Headset Jack Cable --> Female/Female Headset Jack Adapter --> Computer Speakers

Bonus Step:
I ran into a problem using DVI for both my PC & PS3. My monitor only has one DVI input so I'd have to manually switch cables every time I wanted to switch between the PC & PS3 or I needed to find another solution. Well I looked into getting a DVI KVM switch. They're pretty expensive so I turned to ebay and found one for pretty cheap. It takes both DVI outputs from your PC & PS3 and sends it to your monitor through one DVI cable. All you need to do then it press the switch button to toggle between the two sources.

Once it's all tucked away behind the desk the setup looks pretty nice if I don't say so myself.

You should click the link instead of reading it from the here since you will surely be able to find alot of answered questions. I quoted the tut just so you knew what you were getting.

Not pertaining to the video question, per se, just audio, but I run three separate audio sources (two PC's and a 360 that is broken ATM) and I just do it through a DJ mixer. I can adjust audio channel volumes on the fly by hand. However all the audio does have to be RCA for my particular implemention of the solution. I bet some will handle digital audio more readily though.

Everybody good, plenty of slaves for my robot colony?

Are you wanting to stream to like the internet or just play with the monitor? For streaming you can use a capture card. If you just want to use the monitor for video output, it just depends on what cord you use with your playstation. If it is HDMI and your monitor has an HDMI port, you just hook it up. For component, there are adapters that will make it happen.

Even if you use HDMI out but only have a DVI slot on your monitor, you can just get an HDMI to DVI adapter and hook it right up.

Ty for the info guys.

Been playing tons of Dark Souls 2... still. The PvP is addictive. Invading, being invaded, arenas, trying different builds, etc.

Got spooked by Luigi's Mansion 2 last night.

Anyone want my Man Card as I'm guessing I won't be needing it any more?

Been playing a lot of Diablo 3. Act 5 was by far my favorite out of all of them and the Bounties/Rifts in adventure mode are fun.

After 3 years of owning Assassins Creed 2 I finally finished it. The first time I played it I think I stopped half way because I got bogged down from collecting medallions from vaults, collecting feathers, searching for and solving glyph puzzles, and searching for Codex pages. I just now got back to it and finally beat it.

just play gamebattles or eSports on cod and you won't have people camping you actually get people who play the game with strats. I only play FFA for pubs when I get bored, because 99% the time when I play an OBJ game in a pub lobby people don't understand how to play the game. Nothing more frustrating than someone who sits on a home flag in a dom game.

I was going to play Wolfenstein but for some reason I got on this Assassins Creed binge. I'm now working on Brotherhood.

Playing FFX a lot. Just about to enter Sin. Will complete the story before going for everything else. Gonna be fun doing the Dark Aeons again and getting everyone's celestial weapon.
