oh man, I picked up a weird game today. I guess with a name like Conception it was bound to be out there. Not really sure how to explain accurately so I just post this video of the game and let you use your imagination...

You forget that this isn't just some brutal sport where everyones out to kill each other. Its much more like a game of physical chess.-looney liam

3 things:

1. I want Wasteland 2. I do not want to pay $60 for an alpha or beta, or whatever state it is in so I'm not buying it right now. However, I want it bad and wish they would hurry the hell up finishing it.

2. I want Pillars of Eternity just as much if not more, but again they need to hurry up and finish it.

3. I'm thinking about buying Space Engineer. I love space, I've spent like 15 hours in Universe Sandbox on steam (although it shows I've only palyed 40 minutes or some reason, I recall days on that game not minutes, not sure what's going on there). It's also a beta game like the others, but it's only $20 and it's not a game that will have an ending or a story, so there's not going to be a huge difference between beta/final game, build shit, be in space, drive your ships, etc.

I always buy it in Alpha/Beta as long as I get access to the whole game after with no additional cost.

I don't like it just because I feel it might ruin the final game for me. Like if I get to play the beta and it's a few hours long or has a lot of content, I might not want to play the final game from start to finish as I'll be burned out on it. Like Wasteland 2, how much content is in the game right now? If it's a good chunk of game, it might ruin the final game. If it doesn't have a ton of content, then I just paid $60 for a little bit of game when I could have used that money to by a full game and just wait for Wasteland 2 when it fully launches. It would have to have enough content to satisfy the purchase yet not enough to ruin my want to play the full final game. It might sound strange, but yeah.

I've never bought an early access game though so I don't know, just a risk I haven't yet taken.

Played a lot of Alan Wake today. On Episode 5 now. It is getting really good. Can't believe this game has been sitting in my Steam library untouched for so long. I highly recommend it.

I guess I just don't have a problem playing through things again.

I can't wait to get beta access to Destiny.

Iv stoked my steam account on early access games. Probably about 20 games. But they are all in the 20$ or less market so I can't compare it to a 60$ purchase. I think iv regreted 3 purchases but they were I think 5$-10$ games.

Well if it's a typical few days beta that most games come out with, I don't mind doing that. It's typically a small portion of the game and there's a time limit, they send you a code and they are like "beta starts on X, you have until Y to play" and it's normally like 2-3 days or something.

I'm just confused on the early access thing I guess. I mean if it's that type of beta, then it's not worth buying it. However, if it's not that type of beta and is more like the whole game or like 70% of the game or something, full of bugs and stuff, then I get to experience the majority of a game that is full of bugs and stuff, which my hurt my feelings towards it.

I don't know, I need to buy one eventually though to see if I like it or not. It might not bother me that much and if not then I'll be more comfortable buying early access games.

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting this Space Engineer game for 20 bucks. It's early access but it has no real story or plot or anything, so the difference between the beta and final game can't be that much different.

If you are worried about bugs ruining your experience then I wouldn't do it. Alpha and Beta is much more about the developers testing and fixing than user experience.

I actually find it funny when I see people complain about how buggy an alpha game is and how this and that is broken. What do they expect? If the game wasn't buggy and was ready for release it wouldn't be in alpha/beta.

Not that I think you would do that, this conversation just reminds me of how people were so mad on DayZ forums demanding money back because things didn't work right. The whole point of these phases is to test the game and help developers identify/fix bugs.
