So... my friend bought both of us ArcheAge as when she asked me what I thought about it I said it looked pretty good. She bought us the version that comes with alpha access to play now, which is $150... so she bought me a $150 game basically.
I played for some hours today and I am pleasantly surprised. It's quite good and unique enough to genuinely make me excited to play this when it comes out (going to continue to play Alpha though). I love how you raise your mounts/pets from babies, I like how your mounts are characters that you can fight with, raise, level up, name, and how when you get off your mount it follows you around it doesn't just disappear, it can take damage.
Mainly though, I like that there is almost no focus on raids at all. It's a sandbox MMO, where at end game you can do anything from running trade routes to being a pirate on the sea to forming guilds and doing PVP stuff to whatever you want. The end game is not raid/pve focused, it's "do whatever you want there are many end-game options for you" focused.
Did I mention you can build your own ship/houses/farms? Did I also mention you can be a pirate and sail the seas effing people up and stealing their stuff? Yeah... you can be a pirate with your own ship you built.
Anywho, was really shocked she bought me the game as all I said was it looked good but she wanted someone else to play with as well. Had a lot of fun.
