You see, I think they can make a great Superman game that is interesting and fun to play.
He is very powerful as a default, play on that in the game.
The game would start with Superman at his most powerful with is full menu of super power abilities, you would start the game feeling invincible being able to accomplish anything.
Plot trigger, the mastermind antagonist (not necessarily Mastermind) has found a way to slowly poison Superman with a form of kryptonite.
As the game progresses the difficulty slowly increases because Superman is getting weaker and weaker. He is losing his powers and must become reliant more so on other superheros (NPCs) and alternative tactics then he ever had to before. The regression in powers makes him have to adapt and be more creative in accomplishing his goals while once the universe begins to catch on, emboldens other super criminals.
His weakening state creates a window for the main antagonist to launch his ultimate offensive. Something to rival Superman's true power, something he/she would not of been able to initiate while Superman was in power. The plot takes Superman on a mission to first cure himself through a difficult process without his powers, then to counter the offensive which is also difficult because without him to stop it from starting while he is powerful it has allowed the problem to be exponentially worse and difficult to mitigate.
There should be plenty of source material to build that type of game with and I think it would work if enough successful features of the gameplay and story were created.
I like MMA less because of this forum
