This is normal. You have always needed an online sub to play online. PS3 used to be free but they announced a sub price for PS4. Xbox one needs an online sub as did 360.

The whole game is online at all times but you need to sub to play co-op although the other players are there on the map and you can see and interact with them. They basically do not give you all the game content unless you subscribe. I mean, what the hell? And besides that, I don't see why I should pay another fee for playing online when I already have to pay for internet. That's one reason I never got an XBOX and it's also one reason why I will never buy another Sony or Microsoft console. Game subscriptions will basically die off once WoW goes offline and console subscriptions should have never been a thing in the first place IMO.

It sucks but it is what it is. Subs suck but companies are going to milk it for all its worth.

I ran through KOTOR in a few days. Got all the most powerful crystals, the star forge robe, levelled up my Revan perfectly and just ran through everything. Probably going to re-play KOTOR II with the restored content mod soon.

First of all the aiming controls suck ass because you use a gamepad and they give you an aimbot to make it easier. I take that as an insult. We tried using keyboard and mouse but it didn't work, maybe because it's still a beta. All I know is gamepads and shooters should stay as far away from each other as possible.

Second, they seriously reduced your choices when upgrading weapons and armor. In the trailers and early gameplay videos you can see you can collect weapon parts and upgrade them individually. We'll in the beta you can't. You have one set of predetermined upgrades for each weapon and you just buy them. And there goes that whole part of the game that made it interesting...

Third, the loading times are baaaaaad. About a minute and a half to load the first area of the game, not as bad when you go back to the Tower. May be a beta problem.

Fourth, there is no ******* loot. Maybe I'm just spoiled by all the other games out there but we played two characters to level 5 and in total we found maybe 4 or 5 items (excluding the quest rewards).

Fifth, it only made me want to play Borderlands even more. Again, it's not a bad game by all means but the way it is now (without the custom weapon modification, basically no loot, have to use gamepad) I might as well play Borderlands 2 or the upcoming Pre-Sequel on my PC.

Sixth, you need ******* Playstation Plus for basically everything from joining a party (yes, that's correct) to PvP.

Seventh, it's not going to come to PC because Bungie is led by an asshole who claims nobody likes to play shooters with keyboard and mouse (actual quote) and they single handedly revolutionized FPS when they made Halo. What a jackass.
Keyboard/Mouse is the only way to play this game at the moment and I complained about this as well. I cannot stand the controls in Destiny, there's simply something wrong with them, the gameplay is just not that good at all. Even Halo 4 has better controls, there's just something off about the gameplay. The loading as you say is also a problem, the rest I am okay with becuase in this type of game it's mainly for the online multiplayer so all the single player stuff I'm not too worried about.

The main thing that makes this game almost unplayable to me is the field of view. It literally makes me nauseous. I honestly don't think I'll be able to play this at all until a PC version gets released or unless they increase the FoV by release. I play on a 60 inch TV and the FoV is set at like 10 or something, it's awful and near unplayable on my TV. If I had a smaller TV it might not be an issue but as it is I'm basically looking at a big ass gun spinning around trying to find enemies next to me because the FoV is so damn bad that I can't see shit around my character. FPS games in general have this issue but Destiny more so, a stupid design decision by them if it stays like this. FPS games should always have a PC version with an FoV slider, always. FPS on consoles are just horrible more often than not.

As for what I've been playing, I played some Colonial Marines... it's alright so far. The main thing about it that sucks is the checkpoint system, it's really bad. I'll need to put more time into it though to see if I like it or not.

Best MMO I've played in many years. Keep in mind it is a lot different than your typical MMO. It's a sandbox MMO, there's no real "end game goal". It's about farming, raising animals, crafting, building, creating your own businesses. For example I spent a solid 2-3 weeks doing nothing but trying to get my low level boat so I could start chumming in the ocean rather than fishing off banks. I spent like my whole time after that doing nothing but fishing for gold to support my farm/land. You can get to max level doing nothing but fishing for example.

There is combat and there are quests, but you can level up by farming/mining/fishing/crafting just as fast as you can while doing combat and it's not the main focus as it is in other games. I only did the tutorial zone quests, once I got my mount and got my first patch of farm I barely did any quests. There's a lot of PvP especially out in the sea. You can craft a ships and become a pirate, attacking people and destroying their ships and getting their trade boxes worth a lot of gold (doing trade routes is another business option that many people go to, but it's a risk with pirates). There's even a court system in place where actual players go to trial against people who are notorious PvP players, and the PvP player has to spend actual time in jail if they are caught and found guilty.

In other words, go into it thinking it's a sandbox MMO where the core of the game is being anything you want, farming/crafting/fishing/trade routes/pirate/what have you, getting new ships/boats, crafting houses on your farm and buying farm animals to use so you can build up more money to support your other adventures or whatever you want to do. You even have to pay weekly taxes on your land and other property you own, it's pretty in-depth stuff. At "end game", fishing out in the open sea on your fishing boat (multiple types of boats suited for different things) is just as good as doing PvP or quests or anything else. End game is whatever you want it to be.

I am looking forward to it. I have always looked or a true sandbox MMO. Something like WoW that is more than PVP/PVE at the end. Don't get me wrong, I highly doubt anything will ever make me quit WoW. But if this game delivers, I could definitely see myself playing alongside it for sure.

Already cancelled Wildstar. That is the biggest WoW clone ever. It is literally the same game but "harder".

Never heard about it but pretty excited for it now. It's like you were describing Star Wars Galaxies in your post, which is widely considered one of the best MMO's out there. Not sure what to think of the game setting though.
