These things are simple fixes within the game that EA MMA already is.
-add different strike animations for different fight styles, and tweak speed/damage for each kind
-tweak the difficulty of submissions
-add some additional positions to ground game (posture-up half guard comes to mind)
-tweak damage in some of the ground positions.

It looks like THQ will need a whole new engine/game to make it not seem like your playing a video game version of rock em sock em robots.

It still felt like a much more fluid game, unlike "UFC rock-em-sock-em robots."
Yeah.. I still liked UFC better though because atleast the fighters resemble their skillsets a lot more, it's not so fluid, but it's more realistic i think.

I did used to have fun playing EA MMA K1 matches against people, just knock them down and then wait til they get up and keep fighting on the feet. But yeah the grappling system on the game was pretty terrible.

Also i'm frothing over this years roster

The best new additions for me are Aldo, Barboza, Barao, Nick Diaz and Phil Davis.

Also everyone says Rock em sock em robots, but if you get good enough at the game you can stand in the pocket, slip and counter. That sounds like technical striking, not rock em sock em robots!

EA MMA was far more like rock em sock em robots.

Simply throwing repeated left hooks and right hands was enough alone to drop your opponent in seconds.

In 2009 the striking was very technical and skillful, and in 2010 it didn't exist.

You're kidding me. Two flush shots at 205 or heavyweight in EA MMA and you had to use strategy to survive being put down, in UFC 2010 it was left hook, right elbow, right head kick until it was the first one to fall basically.

UFC is the ultimate rock'em sock'em robots.

I hope the UFC makes looking rocked more realistic.

I find it hilarious when you're on the ground, get rocked, and you just turn over to the side and take a little nap while you get pounded.

It also was popular to the body. Also, don't forget the broken parry right high kick that was like an insta-KO.

And as I said, the striking in 2010 didn't really exist. It was broken and every fight was a wrestling and clinch fest.

2009 was the best game for striking and overall play.
