WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Who should face Razor Rob next?
Jamie Varner or Alex Karalexis? Also who do think has the better chance.

Varner was able to stay in there til the third round with Hermes, who probably has as much power as Rob (even though he's not really on his level technically), so I'd give him a better shot. Plus Varner has a good submission game, and good wrestling to take Rob out of his element.

Varner could give Razor some trouble, but Karalexis, at this point, is a bigger name. Either fight would be watchable. I'm digging the WEC at this point. They make some solid matchups.

Jamie Varner defiantly deserves a title shot and would give Rob a real tough fight that I think Varner would win.
Varner was 1-1 in the UFC and his loss came to Franca in the thrid round. Rob who has better techinical stand up but not more power than Hermes would obviously have trouble finishing him and Varner is much better than Rob on the ground while being on the ground with Hermes he was at a disadvantage.
Jamie Varner is the ebst LW fighter in the WEC and could compete with guys like Griffen and Guida in the UFC I think he is on that level.

Agreed on the WEC love kds. Their matchmaking is pretty solid, and they have a nice group of fighters that just keeps getting better. Plus, who doesn't love watching the lower weight classes go at it.

I'd much rather see Jamie Varner get in there with Razor Rob at this point, because if McCullough would happen to fight Karalexis instead...well, that would be a dismantling.
Granted, if Varner comes out with another Franca-esque performance...then he'll get destroyed as well.
People said Crunkilton was suppose to challenge Rob, well...look what happened there. Eventually, the "Razor" is gonna be too big for WEC - and it'll be time for him to be moved up.

I was hoping to see Varner against him, but MMAPlayground has Alex, so is it official now? I'd love to see Rob against Sherk or Penn or any of the UFC LW's lol

Varner or Marcus Hicks imo. Hicks is still undefeated, has proven he's well rounded, has proven he can battle back when losing, and has proven he belongs in WEC with the last 2 victories.

Why did the UFC release Varner anyways?

I still don't understand that rated. I mean the guy dominated his last fight and his only loss was to Franca. I mean a lot of guys lose to Franca so I don't understand why they got rid of Varner.
