WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Razor Rob in Baja 1000

World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight champion “Razor” Rob McCullough has a few months off before his next title defense in February.

So the Huntington Beach-native has decided to take up a new hobby: off-road racing.

McCullough will be a co-driver on Camburg Racing’s Toyota Tundra truck in the Baja 1000, which is considered one of the most dangerous races in off-road sports.

The 450-truck race begins Tuesday in Ensenada, Mexico, and snakes around the Baja peninsula through some of the toughest terrain before crossing the finish line in Cabo San Lucas.

The trucks travel at speeds of up to 100 mph, sometimes launching 300 feet off sand dunes.

The more I hear about athletes with alternative endeavors, the more I think they're slacking. Both the "champs" that were in the movie Bobby-Z have lost their titles (Sylvia & Liddell, I'm ignoring all the fighters that aren't title holders). CroCop and his terrible movie that I can't think of its' name. Even though they're pro athletes, it seems like if there's no correlation between what they want to do and what they are known for doing... it seems to backfire on them. The only immediate exception that comes to mind is Travis Pastrana. I love watching Razor Rob tear through opponents, but on the upside... maybe it'll give Marcus Hicks a chance to take the belt from him.
