WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Miguel Torres
Fight Finder - Miguel Torres's Mixed Martial Arts Statistics
Did anyone see his last fight in the WEC? He fought at WEC 30 vs Jeff Bedard at 135 pounds. I'm definitely calling this guy to defeat Bebe for the title. His fight vs Bedard was super exciting and very impressive. He is also 19-1 with 12 submission victories. Anyone know anything about him? See the fight?

He a great fighter and I defiantly think if he avoids Yahya he could earn a shot at Beebe. But if Torres wants to beat Beebe he is going to need to KO him because if Yahya who might have the best submissions in MMA can't tap him than I don't think Torres can tap him.
Torres does however have a bright future ahead of him and I can't wait to see him fight again.

I've heard alot of people say that, but I don't know. I've seen Torres fight alot, especially in his smaller circuit fights outside of the WEC. His submission game is pretty incredible. While I respect Yahya, I certainly wouldn't call him the best submission guy in MMA. I don't think he's really in the running for that.
Torres is a technically sound BJJ guy, and so it Yahya. If one of them makes a mistake, they are both good enough fighters to tap each other out. I agree, though, that it would be in Torres' best interest to stand with Yahya, and I think with Miguel's reach and Muay Thai ability (which no one who has just been watching him the WEC has seen yet really has a good take on) he can stop Yahya standing up or at least beat him to a decision.
I'd like to see Torres fight Beebe, as I think he matches up better with Beebe than Yahya did. I also think that Torres is the versatile fighter that could make Beebe really work for a win. That would be an interesting fight.

My favorite part of Torres' game is his useage of his long limbs and bjj. At 5`9 135 lbs, he is definitely going to be taller than most of his opponents and he uses his long limbs very effectively, especially from guard.

IDK Ironman. I mean Yahya submissions are tight. Considering he has nothing else and he is still able to compete with anyone in WEC's FW divison makes his submission game even more impressive.
I have seen a handful of Torres fights and a bunch of Yani's and honestly Yahya's submission game IMO better by a good amount. Now Yahya is very attacking in his submission game so much so that it hurts him at times because he rushes into something or gasses. But not taking into account stamina Rani's pure submissions are better than Torres IMO.
But I'm curiups why you feel Torres has the better ground game?

Great topic and I agree, I think Torres will be the one who defeats Bebe.
Yaha has a really good ground game, but that's about it. Your safe if you can get past the second round, since Rani's cardio is incredibly piss-poor. I think Torres would run through dude.
Rani has the better ground game, but Torres is a better MMA fighter. I think Rani got lost on his way to an ADCC event or something.

It's pretty funny because he defiantly fights like a grappling tournament.
I mean if you have ever seen Rani vs Mark Hominick he tries some of the worst takedown attempts I have ever seen and basically just scoots around on his knees until he gets the takedown and then he finishes him.
Rani doesn't throw punches or kicks almost ever. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a guy use kicks and punches less than Yahya.

I'm still shocked that Rani somehow got Hominick down. Hilarious stuff.
Rani's ground game is pretty swank, though. Dude needs a gas tank.

Honestly I think he has a bad gas tank but it's not as bad as it looks. I mean if he would tone down the submission attempts a little and not go full force on everyone he might be able to fight for 2 rounds w/o gassing.
