WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Alessio is fine in the WEC, I think. While I find him to be solid, I don't think he'd add much to the UFC WW division, honestly.

I saw him fight at the Art of War and he won by RNC (of course). I guess the UFC hasn't renewed his contract.
I dunno Alessio has some major skills, it just depends if he comes out aggressive or not. For some reason he can be really apprehensive during a fight, or he can just attack (similar to how Arlovski can get). If he could get his aggression to show up on cue he'd be a force to be reckoned with in the UFC. An example of how devastating he can be is when he fought Chris Brennan in KOTC. I'd equate him to Bang Ludwig... when he's on his game.

Whoa, nice to hear that Fickett hasn't dropped off the face of the earth.
Yeah, that's the same way I feel about Alessio. John's a solid fighter, but he can be inconsistent. He has moments where you really think he's going to be making major waves, and then he just doesn't engage much and you're like, "What happened?"

Exactly, but if he would just come out guns blazing, he'd be hard for anyone in the WW division. In either case, his experience in the ring is second to none, and could still present a lot of problems for Jake... even if Alessio wasn't attacking. Worse case scenario: use Alessio as a gatekeeper... why not right? They tried to use him as a "claim to fame" for Diego, and his ability to defend the RNC turned (what would have been) an impressive win for Diego into a lackluster decision where Diego couldn't finish. That performance should at least earn him another shot in the big show.

I think he is ready but will he succeed is the better question.
I think GSP, Sanchez, Fitch, Hughes would all be too much for him, IMO

Oooh, that should be an easy win for Fickett.
I wouldn't mind seeing Roan vs Jake Shields in the UFC.

To the OP Jake Shields is a beast he bores me often but he is a beast.
He's been more exicting recently so I'm hoping he is turning a corner. I mean he has the skills to beat anyone in the WW divison.
I would favor him against Kos, Diego, Fitch, Karo, and Serra but I think Hughes handles him as does GSP.
Now to the Fickett discussion. I'm exicted to see Fickett fight in cage rage (which is owned by Pro Elite). That could lead to Fickett vs Shields which would be fun. Also how much would Fickett vs Daley or Shields vs Daley rule.
My last thought on the Elite XC WW divison is does anyone know what happened to Luiz Azeredo. I mean the guy kicked Paul Daley's ass but he hasn't really been fighting lately. I usually keep up on my Chute Boxe guys but I haven't followed him closely.

Diego v Shields... now that's an interesting match-up. As long as Diego doesn't opt to eat jabs all day long as he did when he fought Kos... the ground game would be awesome. I'd watch this in Abu Dhabi too.. but the GnP aspect adds a lot to the game strategy.

Last I heard, he was supposed to face Buscape again. I forgot the organizations name, though. I'd love to see Azeredo in the WEC, UFC, EXC, or any other organization that is easy to access.
