As a teenager, Filho would go to the various Karate, Muay Thai, boxing and Jiu-Jitsu academies in and around Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and challenge the top fighters.
“I would go to the academy and say, ‘Hey, I want to prove to you that my art is better than yours,’” Filho said. “We would have a Vale Tudo match right there.
“There were weeks when I would fight five times in a week. I have no idea how many fights I had, but definitely over 100.”
