WEC World Extreme Cagefighting is an American mixed martial arts promotion. It is the sister promotion to the UFC, both owned and produced by ZUFFA, with a focus on lighter weight classes and talent building for the UFC. As with its older and much larger sibling, the WEC uses the same rules as the UFC, but it holds its fights in a smaller octagonal cage.

Filho
Is anyone else tired of him saying "I never give up, im Brazilian" or "Im Brazilian blah blah blah", "I will only help Brazilians"
I mean come on he mentions he is brazilian all the damn time give it arest buddy we know. Sonnen was working him and the ref should not have stopped the fight. I think Anderson Silva would tool Filho badly. As well as Henderson at 185 and I even think Franklin would beat him to be honest. He just isnt that impressive to me, and he defintly wasnt last night

Last night he did look beatable.
But that doesn't matter, he might have had a bad night.
Not all of his fights have looked that way and it isn't his fault when the ref stopped the fight.
I hate it when people think there is a bad stoppage and they bag on the winning fighter. Whats the point?
He doesn't run the commission, he didn't stop the fight.
Give the guy a break, he got a solid arm bar and the fight got stopped. It happened to Renzo Gracie against Sakuraba and nobody said anything.
Hell big John even did it to that kid who Din Thomas beat before Kenflo. So it does happen, esp when somebody is screaming in pain.

I wasnt bagging on him for the bad stoppage. That was just something I wanted to say. I just dont think he is all that impressive. I think it was Chael Sonnen that was screaming in pain at an ankle lock Babalu Sobral had on him but the ref didnt stop that. My point was Filho does not impress me not that Filho would have lost if not for the bad stoppage.

Ok that makes more sense now.
I see where you're coming from.
He definitely did not look like a world champion last night.
I am usually a fan of his and I still am but I was pretty let down with that performance.

Before this fight I made the comment that I wanted Chael to win, so I'd hear less of the Filho RULZ1!1!!!! crap. I guess him winning can do that as well.
I think he's a VERY good ground guy, but I don't see him beating someone that has a great gameplan and above average standup.

Sonnen put him on his back, like I assumed he would. But he made Filho's stand up look even worse than normal. Paulo is a tank, so he has a lot of power, but he has zero technique and just throws out sloppy punches hoping to connect.
Filho looked incredibly amateurish last night.

Its so true. God forbid if an American said that, he would be a red neck arrogant prick. Its one thing to be proud of your country but get over yourself. And for the record im a Canadian.
